The white-handed gibbon is known to all thanks to its long arms, it can often be found in the zoo. The second name of gibbons is Lara, they are the most famous species from the whole family.
Plush Gibbon Appearance
It is worth noting the plush appearance of gibbons, the image of the animal is extraordinary: it starts with black and ends with a sandy tint. Light-colored limbs and hair that fall on the animal's face are especially distinguished.
Due to the thick fur, animals tolerate cold well. Thanks to strong and long arms, a slender body, the gibbon easily migrates through the trees. With the help of long limbs, an individual easily moves from branch to branch and can be in motion for a long time. The peculiarity of the animal is that it does not have a tail.
Lara's skin is black, framed by white fur, thanks to this resonance of the lara is easily remembered by visitors to the zoo. Thanks to the eyes, which are capable of magnifying objects in front of them like binoculars, primates are easily oriented among the density of trees. Dexterity and vigilance allows llamas to quickly move around the area.
Diet
We can say that in this family it is difficult to be hungry, since young gibbons often bring food to old monkeys, who for one reason or another can not get their own food. It is especially fascinating to watch animals that draw water from a reservoir, they lower their palms and lick the water from their fur, trying to remove thirst.
Primate habitat
The homeland of primates is China, its southwest side to the east of the Malay Peninsula. In addition, you can meet monkeys in the north-west of Sumatra and Java. It is more favorable for them to be in the tropics with special humidity, but some individuals can also be found in dry areas. Some primates migrate to the mountains and live at an altitude of up to 2000 meters.
Unusual life of primates
Distinguishing between a male and a female is rather problematic, since they have no sex differences. Both sexes have a lot in common, especially appearance and lifestyle. It is difficult to say who just flashed between the crowns of the trees, male or female, because they are so similar and so active. Thanks to their long arms, they spend most of their time having fun on tree branches.
These primates rarely descend to earth; in fact, there are few occupations on earth for them. Gibbons are created by nature so as to form special groups in which they live. Their territory is clearly limited from other primates, and in case of crossing over the edge, they make special sounds, which should be a deterrent maneuver for other monkeys. The average family of gibbons is up to seven individuals, it can be a pair of gibbons, their cubs and older primates. Despite the fact that each family occupies its territory, conflicts between families are not uncommon.
As for the sleep phase, the best place for gibbons is dense foliage. As soon as the sun rises, primates climb to the top of the trees in anticipation of the first rays of the sun. Gibbons meet the sun, making interesting sounds, similar to singing.Such a performance of primates can be observed for several hours, all members of the family take part in the action, which is important.
The peculiarity of gibbons is that they can make clear sounds, only people have such abilities. Thanks to the throat bag, the morning singing of primates can be heard at a distance of more than a hundred meters.
Interesting facts from the life of primates
It is unfortunate that such a cheerful view of primates is threatened with extinction. And, if earlier animals disappeared from the face of the earth, since they were actively hunted, now their number is decreasing due to deforestation in southeast Asia. And, unfortunately, keeping animals in zoos does not reduce their chances of extinction, since poachers have not written laws, they are not even stopped by the protection of protected areas and national parks.
