Summertime beckons for a walk in the fresh air with children. During walks, each mother takes with her something to eat - fruits, cookies, drinks. But such food easily attracts wasps, which can get into the bag and sting the baby. The wasp sting is lightning fast and very painful, so you need to clearly know what to do if the wasp has bitten a baby.
What happens after wasp stings
In most cases, after a wasp sting, there are no serious complications, and the body of a healthy baby gives the following reaction:
- In the area of the bite, the skin turns red.
- The bite site may swell slightly.
- The bite is necessarily accompanied by pain.
- In addition to pain, burning and itching are evident directly at and near the bite site.
Occasionally, after contact with a wasp, a child develops an allergic reaction, since the child’s body is not prone to damage by such processes. But still, adults should always be careful and ready to help.
First aid after a bite
It is important that adults do not start to panic, otherwise it will frighten the child even more and aggravate the body's reaction to the bite. The most terrible troubles are severe swelling from a wasp sting and pain, which will begin to subside with treatment and will completely disappear after a few days. Despite this, the rest will definitely be ruined.
Do not listen to various horror stories about instant allergic reactions, etc. Severe edema, respiratory arrest, of course, can occur, but very rarely and most often it concerns a bite by an adult wasp. In this regard, one should not panic and think about the bad. The children's body is not able to react to an insect bite in this way. After the defeat, it is the toxins from the poison that provoke swelling and pain. Of course, the injury will be accompanied by inflammation and pain, but the body temperature will not change at all and the skin will not have an allergic rash.
First aid will require quick and coordinated action by an adult. What do we have to do:
- First, you need to quickly leave the place where the wasp or several wasps without sharp movements.
- It is forbidden to kill an insect on the skin, as this can provoke a sting jam in the wound, and the poison contains a substance that makes the wasp even more aggressive. One crushed wasp can lead to an attack by an entire colony. To maintain safety, you need to brush away the insect.
- The wound needs to be disinfected. This will require any liquid containing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, iodine, or even ordinary soap and water. A tablet of aspirin dissolved in water is perfect. The mixture is applied to the bite and is covered with a bandage or a clean cloth on top of which a chilled item is placed. In the absence of a cold compress, the hand can be placed under cold water.
- When the child was bitten by a wasp, then a tight bandage should be applied to the affected limb. So, toxins will not be able to spread in the body.
- It is important to remove toxins as soon as possible, so the child needs to drink a lot - mineral water, strong tea. But do not drink milk.
- After a bite, it is advisable to give the victim an antihistamine drug and show the child to the doctor.
What you should not do after a bite
It is forbidden to overtake an insect and kill it, since at the same time it will begin to secrete a special toxin that attracts other wasps and makes them more aggressive. Thus, rice of mass destruction arises.
It is forbidden to rub the place of a bite, and it is also forbidden to press the sting by pressing fingers - this will only provoke an intense release of poison. The sting should be removed with tweezers or a syringe.
Remedies for bites
After any bite, it is important to take an antihistamine immediately. The most effective of them include: Diphenhydramine, Claritin, Suprastin, Tavegil. Also, the wound can be lubricated with an external agent - this is Psilo-balm or Fenistil. It is important to choose exactly the medications that will suit the child.

Medications
The first and main drug when a wasp stung is an antihistamine. If at least one allergic edema has been noted in the history of a person’s disease, then when going out in nature, he is always advised to have an adrenaline solution, disposable syringes, corticosteroids with him in the medicine cabinet, and most importantly to clearly know what to do when attacking an insect. You do not need to wait for the manifestation of the reaction, but immediately inject adrenaline into the bite and take an anti-allergic medicine.
Any person should take allergy pills after a bite within 3 days before the edema is eliminated. In addition, local anesthesia is used, as well as itching for external use - local analgesics, which include pramoxin, lidocaine, etc. Also, painkillers without hormones and local anesthetics include drugs in the composition with colloidal extract and sodium bicarbonate, simply with baking soda. They will quickly relieve pain and itching after a wasp sting.

Bite Prevention
When in the summer a mother and her child go for a walk in the countryside, it is not recommended to wear very bright things, since they attract the attention of wasps. In addition, you need to abandon the use of perfumes, especially with a sweet and floral aroma. An adult must understand what to do if a child was bitten by a wasp.
If the child is dirty with sweets, then this area should be immediately cleaned with wet wipes. When near the wasps, it is important not to make sudden movements and not try to escape from them. You should take the child by the hand or lower the hood of the stroller and try to quietly leave the dangerous area.
