Galerina marsh belongs to the Strofari family. She is good for everyone - appearance with a long graceful leg, pleasant smell, poetic name. But the danger to humans is very large mushroom, as it provokes severe poisoning. Mushroom pickers need to know what a dangerous galena looks like.
Description of appearance
To avoid poisoning, during the collection of mushrooms, you need to know what the most toxic mushrooms look like. These include swamp galena, very reminiscent of edible mushrooms - to such an extent that even the experience of mushroom pickers can deceive them.
The diameter of the mushroom cap is very small - from 1 to 3 cm, and the shape of the young specimen is conical or convex. But the mushroom grows, the hat gradually changes, acquiring bell-shaped outlines, and at a very mature age - almost flat. But always in the center one feature will be noticeable - a convex tubercle of a pointed shape.
The hat itself is smooth, pleasant, silky, but watery and fragile; knocking it down even with a thin branch is not difficult. When it rains or a lot of moisture around, the hat begins to swell. The young marsh galleria has whitish fibers along the edge of the hat. This is a reminder of the destroyed bedspread.
The surface color is yellow, with a honey tint or yellow-brown at an early age, and then it begins to change, fade, and acquires a dark yellow color.
Young specimens have plates light brown. During spore maturation, darkening of the plates begins, as a result they become ocher-brown, but at the edges the shade turns out to be a little lighter. The plates may be attached to the leg, but there are also species where they fall on it. Disputes are broadly egg-shaped.
The brittle leg is mealy, very long and thin, from 5 and even up to 20 cm with a diameter of 0.1 - 0.5 cm. Inside it is hollow. Compared to a hat, it wins a lot in size. More often it is very straight, even, and only occasionally can be seen with bends. It has a light yellow color, either with a brown or green tint: it all depends on the area in which the mushroom grows.
The lower part contains light, almost white areas - there are also arachnoid remains of the bedspread. The upper part is with a white ring.
Moss is a favorite habitat
Galerina marsh has chosen a fibrous area, where there is a large abundance of moss. You can see it most often in the swampy forest areas - coniferous or mixed - in Europe and North America. Places choose warm, overgrown, but at the same time - with a lot of constant moisture.
Mushroom also grows on stumps or on a rotten tree, especially prefers coniferous. Many mushrooms can be found in the place where a large accumulation of decaying wood. It doesn’t grow very often in sprouts, mainly mushrooms are located nearby, but one by one, the base of the legs can rarely be found fused.
The fruiting of the fungus is the period from June to September. Especially in August and September, mushroom pickers should be more attentive, since this poisonous mushroom can be found in large quantities. And always remember that it is very poisonous.
Galerina has other types
Swamp gallery is not the only one in the family. There are other galleries:
- Ribbon-shaped. At an early age, it has a conical shape of a hat, which gradually opens more and more, having passed the stage from the bell-shaped to flat form. But the bulge in the center is sure to persist. Color - yellow honey, there are brown stripes. The diameter of the hat is small - from 0.4 cm to 3. The hat is wet, and when it is especially wet, it immediately begins to swell. The pulp is very thin and quite fragile, with a very unexpressed smell and taste. The hollow straight leg is quite long, ranging from 3 cm to 12, and the diameter does not exceed 0.2 cm. Its color is light yellow, go a little brownish. But over time, the lower part acquires a dark chestnut color. A distinctive feature - on the leg the ring is most often missing. It grows in marshy areas, where there is a lot of moss. Not used in food.
- Sphagnum. The size of her hat may very well be tiny - 0.6 cm, but there are also mushrooms with a hat diameter of 3.5 cm. The young mushroom on the edge of the hat has a fibrous and conical shape, which, when opened, becomes almost flat. Its surface is either smooth or convex, and the tubercle in the center is more saturated. The leg is also quite long - up to 12 cm. At first there is a ring, and then it will disappear, however, traces from the bedspread are noticeable. Scientists did not recognize this species as poisonous, but it does not possess edible qualities either.
