How to clean suede gloves at home

Soft suede gloves have not gone out of fashion since its inception: they look very elegant, can complement any look, and also have excellent thermal insulation properties, which makes them an almost indispensable element of cold winter outings.

At the same time, suede material (both artificial and natural) is very moody and requires the observance of certain measures to care for it. If you don’t clean the gloves on time, this may turn out to cause the suede pile to wrinkle, which, in turn, will lead to the formation of peculiar bald spots distinguished by their characteristic greasy, greasy, luster. In areas from which the smallest particles of pile "go" to the side, quite large accumulations of dirt, dust and grease can form. To remove them after the fact will be very problematic.

Important: to clean any suede products, even black ones, it is necessary to regularly, at least twice a month (and in autumn and spring - once a week). This will extend their overall life and preserve their spectacular appearance.

The usual procedure for “combing” an accessory can help to remove light dirt from any suede gloves. In most cases, they use a classic massage brush made of rubber and having oval shaped teeth, since it, being made of soft material, does not harm the structure of the gloves.

Tip: Light fat, for example, from food, can be removed even with a regular eraser.

As a replacement for the brush, you can use (only as carefully as possible) the finest-grained sandpaper. Using circular motions, it is enough to slowly move along the surface of the gloves, gradually passing through all the damaged areas; In no case should you actively rub her surface.

Methods for cleaning suede gloves

If the methods described above for cleaning the effect did not take effect, then more powerful methods should be applied in practice. When choosing them, it is important to rely on the nature of the pollution and its degree; So, there are certain recommendations:

1. If gloves fell into a puddle, and pieces of clay or loam now occupy a sufficiently large area of ​​their surface, then you can clean them with coarse salt. It is enough to mix it with bread crumb, then bring the “pulp” to a homogeneous state and then rub it into the surface. Finally, gloves should be left for 3-4 minutes, and then the mixture should be removed.
2. If the gloves fell into a very oily liquid, you can remove it with gasoline, but clean (you can check its component composition on another piece of cloth; clean gasoline will not leave streaks).

As a cleaning agent, you can use a soap solution: you should only dilute 200-250 milliliters of warm water with a liquid soap or pieces of hard water in a glass (you can even replace the soap with shower gel, it will be especially good if it contains solid particles).

Soap solution should be literally rubbed into the surface, and to remove dirt - immediately dry the gloves with a towel, napkins and other soft surfaces.

Important: in no case should you dry suede items on a battery and in direct sunlight. This will gradually worsen the internal structure of the product, as a result of which it first loses its shape, and afterwards completely turns into a shapeless mass.

One of the most proven, along with the methods of purification used above, and at the same time long used, is the consistent use of ammonia and vinegar:

1. In any container, it is necessary to mix ammonia and water in a ratio of 1: 2, respectively (the amount of water can be slightly increased).
2. Next, lightly soak a cotton pad in the mixture and walk it over a contaminated surface.
3. After that, you need to use another cotton pad, soak it in a solution of vinegar (1: 1 ratio with water) and also go over the gloves.
4. Finally, upon completion of the procedures described, gloves should be “combed” in order to finally remove small particles. In cases of rush, you can use a hairdryer, which should be selected to be the weakest mode of warm airflow.

Cleaning White Suede Gloves

Suede white gloves are not very practical, however, they are still popular with girls and women. It is necessary to take care of them in a slightly different way, and when cleaning it is important to observe the proportions of certain components of the solution.

To remove dirt from the surface of white gloves made of suede, you should:

1. Dilute a solution of 250 ml of water, 15 ml of ammonia and 10 ml of hydrogen peroxide.
2. Wet a soft fleece or rag that does not leave fibers on any surface in the mixture and walk along the surface of the solution. Then leave the gloves on the towel to dry.
3. Finally, with another dry towel, after half an hour, wipe the surface completely and rub the pile with a brush.

If there is no hydrogen peroxide or other components at hand, then you can use ordinary egg white. For cleaning, you need a thick, whipped mixture, so you need at least 2-3 eggs. After giving the required volume to the proteins, the mixture is applied to the damaged area so that it completely covers it. Then, using an ordinary brush, rub the dirt (but not over the entire surface, but only within the protein coating) and, finally, finally wipe the gloves with a flannel cloth.

Mud Prevention

Firstly, before going out in inclement weather, suede products should be treated with a water-repellent spray: this procedure will protect the gloves from dissolving any components contained in rain moisture in their structure.

Secondly, wearing suede gloves during the early autumn and spring is a very dubious undertaking, since it is usually quite rainy during these times, against which such gloves, no matter how persistent and soaked with spray, will not stand. Suede products are recommended to be worn in very cold but dry weather.

Finally, so that you do not have to resort to complicated cleaning methods or even carry the accessory to dry cleaning, it is best to remove dirt as quickly as possible after its formation and appearance on the surface. This will prevent any component from being absorbed inward.
