Even the most seedy mistress knows that blood must be washed off while it is fresh. And only in ice water. But sometimes circumstances are stronger than us. And we find the brown mark too late. How to remove old blood stains? Some people think this is not possible. But no. Everything is possible if desired. You just have to try and know a few secrets. Go.
Rule 1. Dissolve the protein
A dried blood stain is a long-curled protein. He firmly absorbed into the fibers of the fabric and categorically did not want to leave his place. Normal washing and good old laundry soap will not bring proper satisfaction. The brown stain will most likely wipe off, but the yellow one will surely remain. Here it is necessary to get rid of it.
To begin with, despite the venerable age of the stain, you should not water it with boiling water or too hot water. So the blood protein will coagulate forever and the thing will be corrupted completely and irrevocably. The other extreme - ice water, will not help either. It only works on fresh blood.
Hence the conclusion: all the manipulations are carried out in warm water of a comfortable temperature. Our main task is to break down protein. Than? There are several tools that work equally well.
The most accessible of them:
- Boric acid. 1 tsp the powder is diluted in 200 ml of pure boiled water, add 1 tsp. ammonia. Then the “hero of the occasion” is abundantly moistened and carefully, but gently rubbing it to obtain the desired result. Then follows a normal wash.
- Papain. It is a white powder that softens meat. Sold in specialized shops for spices and seasonings. In small towns, it can be found on grocery stalls in bags of one well-known company. So it is written "M ... and. For soft meat. ” Dilute the mixture to the state of liquid slurry with warm water. After abundantly soak the blood stain. Leave to complete disappearance of traces of the crime. Then wash.
- Hydrogen peroxide. Pour liquid directly onto old blood. A soft hiss should be heard, dirty foam will appear. With a gentle careful movement, remove it (preferably with the edge of a paper sheet). Pour peroxide and remove the foam until the blood disappears. Then they wash as usual.
Do not forget the golden rule of every self-respecting mistress! Before using an unfamiliar stain remover, you should always test it in an inconspicuous area. Otherwise, the thing may be hopelessly ruined.
Tip. Some sources recommend that you wash your blood stain with aspirin diluted in water. They are based on the fact that the drug perfectly dilutes the blood when ingested. So why not try on fabrics outside? The method actually works, but only on a freshly planted spot. Old blood does not succumb to aspirin.
Rule 2. Wash the protein from the fibers
Often enough recipes from the list above are enough to remove old blood stains. But some types of tissue are not recommended for using such methods. They hopelessly deteriorate and even dissolve. Therefore, folk wisdom came up with several more ways. The options are more gentle, but, nevertheless, also very effective.
The most famous:
- Dishwashing liquid. It is diluted with water in a ratio of 1 to 1, and gently rubbed into the stain. Safely forgotten for 30-40 minutes. Before washing, it is recommended to rub the fabric a little more.
- Baking soda. For 1 liter of boiled cooled water take 2 tbsp. l with top powder. Stir thoroughly. Then, the soiled thing is soaked in the obtained liquid. At least 10 hours. Rubbing the fabric periodically with a soft brush or hands. After the "test" rinse and wash with the addition of a good powder.
- Ammonia. About 10 ml of ammonia are taken per pint of pure water. Stir thoroughly, then soak the spoiled thing until the blood mark disappears. If the composition of the fabric allows, then you can slightly increase the concentration of ammonia. This will greatly speed up the cleaning process. Then you only need to wash the saved thing in the usual way. But you should be extremely careful! The method is good only for white things from dense fabrics. Delicate colored materials can be instantly damaged.
- Glycerol. It is sold everywhere, it is inexpensive, it can be found even in the most seedy pharmacy. The liquid needs to be slightly warmed up in a water bath. Then a cotton pad, handkerchief or piece of bandage is moistened in glycerin and gently rubbed on the old blood stain. The process continues until the mark disappears without a trace. After that, what? Right, wash.
- Starch. Corn is best, but it also works out of potatoes. Dried blood is moistened with warm water, sprinkled with plenty of a good layer of powder. Allow to dry, brush off with a stiff bristle brush. The thing is rinsed in acidified water. If necessary, the procedure is repeated until the stain completely disappears. The method is ideal for delicate fabrics - silk, chintz, organza, nylon, chiffon.
- Shaving cream. No foam! The tool is gently rubbed with weak presses into the stain and left for half an hour. After that, wash with any familiar powder. The method has proven itself when used on genuine leather and suede. Wash them is not recommended. But to wipe with a soft damp cloth from the remnants of the cream is very possible.
Do not rub delicate fabrics with your hands, as when washing. So you can deform the fibers, there will be creases, holes and puffs. Better use a soft sponge. After all, here it is not friction that matters, but the active substance.
Rule 3. Finish the stain
Sometimes housewives, having safely erased the brown mark, stop saving things. But on light tissues, the yellowish tint of the remaining spot can be very noticeable. Moreover, under the influence of direct sunlight, such yellowness darkens over time, manifesting itself even more.
Therefore, we use methods to get rid of the residual stain of dried blood:
- Weak brine. To prepare it, take a tablespoon of salt without top for 1 liter of warm water. Soak a thing for 12-14 hours. Sometimes the fabric is rubbed lightly. After thoroughly rinse and wash.
- Soap "Antipyatin". Beat a dense foam, apply to an old spot. Leave for the time described in the instructions. Then rinse the item in clean water.
- Bleach "Vanish". The mixture is poured directly onto the damaged area, rubbed well. Let lie for a while. Then washed with the addition of washing powder and the same bleach. Read the label carefully! It should be written "for colored things!"
- Lemon juice and salt. Make a mixture of the weight of the slurry. A soft sponge is applied to the remains of a blood spot. Leave for 20-25 minutes. Then rinse thoroughly. The processed item does not need additional washing.
By the way, some sources recommend using the steam function in the iron for cleaning. Do not try to do this! In this way, you finally and irrevocably brew blood protein in the tissue fibers. After such a "cleaning" thing still have to send in a link to the cottage. Removing the stain will be useless.
Rule 4. Be smart
Sometimes, despite all the efforts and tricks, the efforts are in vain. Old blood doesn’t want to leave its place at all. But is this really a hindrance for a real mistress? No, this is an occasion to create an exclusive thing with your own hands.
There are a lot of options, you just need to be smart and turn on your imagination:
- Men's clothing. Fabric dyes, brutal thermal stickers, leather patches.
- Women's clothing. Thermal printing, embroidery, sequins, sewn jewelry.
- Baby clothes. Funny applications, original pockets, felt-tip pens on fabric.
And this is just a small part of how you can mask an old blood stain. After all, are you women or who?
Tip. Do not use whiteness or other products containing chlorine to remove old blood stains. The fact is that the brown color will go away, but the yellow hue will remain on the fabric forever. Reprocessing or boiling will not save such a thing.
How to remove old blood stains? Have to be patient and work hard. Then you do not have to sculpt patches or drag a thing into a link to the cottage. As they say, patience and work are our everything!
