And now, about a decade and a half ago, something new appears, hitherto unknown.

Who are karyshy

No one doubted that this creature belonged to the order of rodents, because they found spoiled potatoes, onions, and beets. But the burglar turned out to be experienced, he tried not to catch anyone's eye. And now, having compiled a photobot from the words of eyewitnesses who managed to see him for just some moments, one can imagine a general image. The new pest turned out to be a cute little animal of domestic appearance, behind which lies a dangerous enemy. His name is karysh.

In appearance it is an ordinary hamster, weighing up to 600 g, cute, seeming gullible. Color can be reddish or black. He leads a nocturnal lifestyle, settles down in forests, vegetable gardens, gardens, and when he wants to get closer to people, he finds housing in sheds and other house buildings. The female during the season brings 10-12 cubs for three broods and already in March begins to breed.

It feeds on greens, bulbs, roots, legumes and cereals, and begins from the moment of planting seedlings. Since karibysh does not like to sleep in winter, therefore, for the winter he makes edible reserves to the detriment of the owner of the garden. For a full wintering, he will need about 12 kg of products. So the wrecking caused by the hamster is very noticeable. It is similar to a rat in aggressiveness, it can even rush at people. He cannot stand the heat of the day, he dies from the scorching rays of the sun, but he is friends with water, but in moderation, avoids large and small water bodies. By nature, karbyshs are not gregarious animals; they dig burrows at a distance of 1.5-2 meters from one another.

As for his fishing, we can say that the damage is colossal. Everything above the ground eats or carries away in reserve. Underground crops (potatoes, bulbs, tubers) gnaw, leaving unusable residues. And they do not help in the fight against him, neither shelter nor fencing. But, despite the cutest appearance of karbysh, agriculture lovers are constantly forced to seek out ways to deal with it.

How to get rid of karysh

In the fight against a hamster, first of all, you should try to put traps like a mousetrap, only bigger in size. Given that the animal has a lot of strength, it is better to fix such traps, otherwise they will leave along with the vegetables. And to speed up the capture process, it would be nice to pour some water into the holes. The animal will jump out and fall into the trap.

Deratization will come to the rescue. Place baits with poison near the holes, periodically replenishing them. In specialized departments of stores, you can buy chemical poisons, for example, varat, the finale, klerat, rat death.

If there is a dog on the site, then it will be a salvation from karibysh, as the friend of the person is the enemy of the hamster.

Some gardeners consider a very effective way to install a noise repeller that emits sound waves that pests fear. Without making such music, the animals will gradually leave.

Seedlings of fruit trees and shrubs are recommended to be fenced with a metal mesh, because animals damage the bark.

Having got rid of an unpleasant guest, it is worth considering how to protect your site from his sudden return.
