Even if you are a very neat person, spots on street clothes appear very often and sometimes imperceptibly. The cause of pollution can be public transport, slush on the street, poor-quality detergents, improper storage. Therefore, at home it is worth having special products with which you can easily get rid of stains.
Effective Stain Remedies
Before removing contaminants, it is necessary to find out their appearance so as not to aggravate the situation and not to make them even more noticeable. Also, each tool should be checked on an inconspicuous area of tissue or on a separate sample.
- Laundry soap from street dirt and rain water. It still remains the best detergent and at the same time is very cheap. Grate a small bar of soap to make 2 tablespoons, and fill everything with a glass of water. Use a sponge to wipe the dirt away, moving your hand from the edge of the spot to its center to avoid streaks. Next, rinse the treated area with water and hang the jacket to dry, preferably on the balcony.
- Hydrogen peroxide with ammonia. Such a tool is very effective in case of severe pollution of unknown origin, and also it helps to get rid of blood stains. Mix the above products, apply to the right place and leave for 40 minutes, during which time the dirt should disappear. Next, the procedure must be repeated and jammed with detergent. To smell the weathering, the jacket must be hung on the balcony.
- Lemon juice (do not substitute citric acid) for yellowness and rust. Moisten them with contamination and leave for half an hour, then wash the product with powder or soap. It is important not to touch the jacket filler when removing stains.
- Salt from fresh and greasy stains. Take a tablespoon of the ingredient and dilute in water to make slurry. Put the mixture on a stain and leave for an hour. After a while, use a soft brush to remove the remaining salt, rinse the treated product with soda solution first (1 teaspoon and 100 grams of water), then rinse thoroughly and hang the down jacket to dry. You don’t have to wash it.
- Petrol. If you can withstand this smell, then it is better to remove old greasy stains with its help. Wet a piece of clean cloth in gasoline and wipe the stain with special care, and then stain the treatment area with soap and rinse with water.
- Dishwashing liquid. Due to special components, it breaks down fat well, and also helps to get rid of white stains that appear after washing. Rub the product into the fabric, leave for half an hour, then wash.
- Starch and salt from greasy stains. Take a spoonful of each ingredient and mix with a little water. The resulting slurry is applied with a cloth and left to dry completely, then everything is washed off with a damp sponge.
- Household chemicals. Always check the stain remover, which is sold in the store, on a separate area of the fabric. Do not neglect the instructions and experiment on clothing.
- Glitter vinegar. Clogged areas on the jacket, especially on cuffs and pockets, can be easily removed with this tool. Dilute the vinegar in water, in a ratio of 1: 3, rub the rubbed places with a moistened sponge and wash them. To get rid of the smell, the product should be ventilated for a long time before being worn or put away for long-term storage.
- Coffee and tea stains are removed with a soapy solution. On light down jackets, such contaminants are eliminated with the help of heated glycerin. It is treated with a stained place and left for 20 minutes, and then washed off with warm water and dried with a towel.
Useful Tips
- to remove stains, it is better to use liquid products to avoid white streaks;
- do not use a stiff brush when cleaning the down jacket, otherwise puffs and holes will appear on the fabric;
- to clean the spots, it is necessary to start from the edges, gradually moving to the center;
- remove dirt first with a dry cloth and then wet;
- during the summer period, store white and light down jackets inside out, so the yellow spots that may appear will be hidden from the eyes.
