How to get rid of aphids on cucumbers: 6 ways

Aphids begin to attack cucumbers in July. Small translucent bugs with green wings and abdomens quickly multiply, sucking juices from stems and flowers. The leaves of the garden culture turn yellow and curl, sag, and the ovary either does not appear, or becomes lethargic and sick. Aphids can destroy cucumbers in just a week, so insects need to be combated with folk methods, and if it doesn’t work, use chemistry.

Pest water

Bugs from the stems and root system are washed off with a damp sponge or a soft cloth. Wet the fabric in clean water or soapy water, gently wipe the bushes, trying not to damage the delicate shoots.

Cucumbers, on which there are a lot of ovaries and few flowers, bathe daily. Plants are washed in the morning before dawn, so that the root system has time to absorb water, and the top of the bushes are dry. The jet is directed to the inside of the sheets and stems. Water flushes aphids and reduces pests.

Bathing and rubbing will help if there were not too many insects, and they did not have time to damage the cucumbers. Colonies of bugs that are located on the roots and stems are crushed with cotton swabs or soft tissue.

Aphids get along well with red and black ants. These insects protect pests and get food in return. Anthills, located next to the cucumber beds, need to be destroyed. Fill with hot water or poison. It is advised to lure ladybugs that feed on aphids.

Folk remedies

Cucumbers on which an ovary appeared do not recommend spraying with insecticides. Chemistry is absorbed into the root system and fruits, so the crop will have to be thrown away. Instead of synthetic substances, natural recipes are used that scare away and destroy aphids.

Burning options

If there is no chili or bitter pepper in the house, it is replaced with black or red from the store. But then you need to increase the serving size by 2-3 times. 50-60 g of tobacco from cigarettes or homemade shag must be added to the solution.

The aphid does not tolerate the smell of garlic. Finely chop 500 g of peeled workpiece. Fill a three-liter jar with clean water, pour garlic into it. Stir, cover the infusion with a lid, set aside for 5 days. To process strained aphids bushes and healthy cucumbers with filtered liquid.

Celandine emits poisonous juice, so you need to grind the plant in rubber gloves. The knife and bucket in which the solution was rinsed thoroughly with soapy water, and then ordinary tap water.

While the celandine is infused, the beds are sprayed with a means of dandelions. Combine 400 g of chopped roots and 600 g of chopped leaves with 10 l of liquid. Set aside for 3 hours, then process the cucumbers. You can soak dandelions at noon, so that in the evening the solution for the destruction of aphids was ready.

Helps to get rid of insects and yarrow. It will take 900 g of fresh herbs and 2 liters of boiling water. Connect the components in a glass jar, wrap the container with a warm towel, cover. Infusions for the destruction of aphids are prepared from field plants:

• nettles;
• daisies;

Use onion or garlic arrows. In a herbal infusion, you can add 5 drops of iodine or brilliant green, 2-3 crystals of potassium permanganate, so that a light pink liquid is obtained. The beds are treated with infusions 1-2 times a day until the aphids disappear. Healthy cucumbers are sprayed weekly with natural compounds so that insects no longer appear.

Tobacco and horseradish
If there are a lot of pests, you will need 400 g of shag or tobacco. Pour the workpiece into a bucket, pour hot water. Insist 2 days, covering the container with a lid. Before spraying, add 80–100 g of laundry or tar soap to the solution.

Aphids will destroy the powder of bitter or black pepper and tobacco. The components are mixed, crushed and sprinkled with beds. The procedure is carried out in the evening, after processing, cucumbers are not watered for 2-3 days, so that the powder works. The fruit will not have an unpleasant odor or a bitter taste.

Cucumber leaves are sprayed or wiped with horseradish tincture:

1. Wash and finely chop 7-8 plant roots.
2. Transfer to a pan or jar, pour 3 liters of warm water.
3. After 3 hours, drain the resulting infusion.
4. Do not throw out the cake, but combine with a new portion of distilled liquid. Set aside the can for 3 hours.
5. Mix the first concentrated infusion with the second.
6. Before use, dilute the product with water: 5 liters of pure horseradish in a glass of clean liquid.

Other methods
An infusion prepared from potato or tomato tops will get rid of aphids. From young bushes cut side shoots or weak twigs. 1.5-3 kg of greens are soaked in a bucket of cold water, insisted under the lid for 24 hours.

Aphids will disappear if you spray the beds with a solution of wood ash. Pour 3 tablespoons of powder into a bucket, add 100 g of chopped laundry soap. Stir the water until the components are completely dissolved.

In tinctures and decoctions, you can add essential oils of peppermint or tea tree. Pungent odors scare away green bugs and protect cucumbers.

Synthetic drugs

If the aphid has not receded after the use of folk remedies, the beds are sprayed with chemical agents. Recommend gentle options:

• Nitroammofoski.

Fruits are picked from the bushes and then treated with drugs.

Aphids are a dangerous and invisible adversary that can destroy an entire crop in a matter of days. Fight green bugs immediately after they appear. Insects are washed off, crushed and poisoned by natural means.
