Not all of them turned out to be not only effective, but also led to terrible consequences. How to protect yourself from getting lice? What to do if this has already happened?
Causes of Lice
Hygienic people are more protected against lice infestation. However, there is no guarantee that a clean person will not be a victim of parasites. Lice can become sudden guests if:
- Try on a hat after an infected person or use someone else's comb or hairpins;
- Possess long thick hair, on which lice can end up after a trip in public transport;
- To wipe towels with the parasites that live on them, sleep on such linen. Visiting saunas, baths, pools, traveling by train can present an unpleasant surprise;
- Have sexual intercourse with a partner affected by pubic lice.

Signs and symptoms of lice

Insecticides
Developed on the basis of permethrin, these drugs are able to paralyze the nervous system of parasites. How to get rid of lice folk remedies
The most harmless ways to treat lice are folk recipes. Some of them are so accessible and simple that they allow you to get the desired result using ordinary products from the refrigerator or simple home remedies.
- Kerosene. One of the most popular ancient ways to get rid of lice. Smeared hair is wrapped in a towel. After 2 hours, the strands are thoroughly washed and combed with a frequent comb.
- Cranberry juice. Especially good for killing nits. When the product is rubbed into the scalp for a week, lice eggs can be expected to detach from the hair.
- Vinegar. Significantly reduces the activity of parasites. 2 tbsp vinegar is dissolved in 1 tbsp. water. After thoroughly wetting, the strands are combed out.
- Mint. 2 tbsp herbs are poured with pomegranate juice (1 tbsp.) and boil for about 10 minutes. The resulting solution is rubbed into the scalp.
- Black cumin. Cumin seeds, carefully ground, are dissolved in apple cider vinegar. After filtering, rub into strands and roots. After the procedure, it is important to stand in direct sunlight for about 20 minutes and not wash off your head for 5 hours. For efficiency, manipulation should be daily for a week.
- Burdock or elecampane. The stems of the plant along with the leaves are poured with boiling water. After insisting for 30 minutes and filtering the resulting broth, the roots and hair are washed.
- Mask of mayonnaise. The product applied to the hair contributes to respiratory failure of insects and their death. By holding such a mask all night under a plastic bag, you can hope to get rid of lice. You should try to thoroughly clean all the nits.
- Hair fixation spray. A whole bottle of hairspray is sprayed onto the washed head. This is done in a well-ventilated area or outdoors. Wrap your head in a plastic bag, leave the product all night. After washing off the varnish, the eggs remaining on the strands are thoroughly combed out.
- Hair dye. Coloring strands remedies perfectly cope with the problem of pediculosis. It's all about hydrogen peroxide, which is part of them.
- Anti-flea shampoos. Being a good insecticide, they also help to get rid of lice.
- Compress from vodka. Sprayed vodka is rubbed into the roots of the hair. The head covered with polyethylene and wrapped in a towel is thoroughly washed after half an hour. Mechanical hair treatment is required.
- Tar and dust soap. The strands are soaped and kept under the solution for about half an hour. Thoroughly washed with a solution of apple cider vinegar.
- Hair straightener. Exposure to extremely high temperatures will kill lice and leave no chance for nits to survive. Each thin strand is ironed with a hair iron. The procedure should be very meticulous. After it is important to comb out the remains of nits.
Preventive measures
People who are on duty in places of special crowds, it is necessary first of all to protect themselves from head lice. The risk group includes:
- kindergartens and schools;
- boarding schools;
- prisons;
- help points for strollers;
- humanitarian missions;
- field camps.
Pediculosis prevention includes:
- Limitation of contacts with asocial elements with pronounced signs of lice.
- Avoiding spontaneous sexual intercourse will protect against infection with pubic pediculosis.
- Putting on only your hats, using a personal comb.
- An orderly change of bed linen, washed in hot water.
- Examination of the scalp.
- Hair treatment with special anti-parasitic shampoos.

- Fighting off lice with tincture of lavender, decoction of tansy, hellebore, which lubricate the behind-the-ear areas and hairy parts.

Prevention of secondary infection with lice includes:
- washing things at a temperature not lower than 60 degrees;
- keeping items not to be washed for about 3 days in a tightly sealed plastic bag;
- inspection of the hair of all family members and all those in contact with the object of infection.
The patient can be considered recovered if there are no nits and lice left in the hair, and bite marks on the skin disappear.
