A person’s apartment is an attractive place for many insects. One of the most unpleasant and dangerous is the skin-beetle bug. It is not easy to derive it, however, if you approach this issue comprehensively, you can say goodbye to the insect once and for all.
Beetle beetle
This is a small insect measuring no more than 3 mm. The color of the beetle varies from light brown to black. The natural habitat of these bugs is humid terrain, the banks of ponds, and swamps. But the availability of plentiful food, warmth and light pull the skin-beater into apartments.
The skin-beetle beetle is almost omnivorous. At home, he can eat carpets, fur and wool clothes, domestic stuffed animals. Beetles settle perfectly in the kitchen and in food storage areas. The skin tiller loves to feast on cereals, he eats the remains of small insects, and even bites a person. The beetle loves warm and dark places, so it can be found in the genital crevices, between the villi of the carpet, under the baseboard near the battery.
A female skin-beater gives birth to numerous offspring; in its life, it can lay off more than 100 larvae. Larvae are very unpretentious and can live without food for years. But if the eggs are provided with a sufficient amount of food, they quickly grow, develop and turn into adults.
It is possible to determine the presence of a skin-eater in the house by external signs. First, you will notice the remains of the waste products of this insect on the floor and window sills. These are feces, discarded wings and skin, larvae and adults. Such a bug moves slowly, and if you touch it, it will roll over.
How a skinneur harms a person
- One of the main reasons it is worth getting rid of a skin eater immediately is its ability to spread the virus and infection. Kozheedr bites different people, feeds on feces and corpses of small insects. After the "collected bouquet" the bug bites a person and infects him with all kinds of diseases, including parasites.
- Kozheed beetle brings irreparable damage to household items. But some of them have special value, for example, skins and stuffed animals. In addition, the beetle spoils plaids and garments.
- A beetle bites a person, leaving small dots on its body. However, some people have an acute allergic reaction to these bites. This is manifested by large red spots, local irritation.
- Anyway, the presence of these uninvited guests in the house is in itself an unpleasant and unaesthetic phenomenon.
If you have been bitten by a skin tear, you should treat the wound with an antiseptic - alcohol or hydrogen peroxide. Since the skin-bearer breeds very quickly, you need to immediately take emergency measures as soon as you notice its presence in your home.
How to clean a house from a skin-beetle bug
First you need to carry out a general cleaning in order to remove all possible insects.
- To begin with, you should find the source of infection - the main lair of insects. Carefully inspect the carpets in the house, especially if curled carpet paths are stored somewhere. Pay attention to attics, floor gaps, ventilation shafts. Look behind the skirting boards near the heating devices. Carefully inspect the fur, feather, and wool items stored in the closet. A skin-eater can also eat indoor flowers - examine them. If you find a den, it should be thoroughly washed, collecting all the beetles in a bag.
- After that, thoroughly vacuum the whole house, especially the infection site. All curtains and curtains, clothes (especially from natural materials) should be washed at high temperature. Vacuum and upholstered furniture. This will allow you to clean all surfaces from unpleasant bugs.If you vacuum it every day for a week, gradually the number of bugs in your house will decrease. However, do not forget to immediately clean the bag of the vacuum cleaner from dirt and collected insects immediately after cleaning. If possible, it is better to burn them.
- If some items of clothing and interior are already damaged, it is better to throw them away. The fact is that in the smallest folds there may be larvae that you do not see. If you still hope to save the clothes, you need to soak them in boiling water.
Keeping your house clean is a guarantee that the skinneer will not return to your house.
How to poison a skin-eater
Sometimes, to remove numerous hordes of beetles, one cleaning is not enough. And then you have to use more serious means of pest control.
- Insecticides. These are chemical compounds aimed at the extermination of various insects in the house. You can buy them at the hardware store. Usually insecticides are sold in liquid or bulk form. Special tools aimed at combating skin-eaters include chlorpyrifos, alltrin and bendiocarbs. During processing, thoroughly spray the carpet, all crevices and hard-to-reach spots, as well as the outside of the house. After all, a leather-eater most often comes from the street. If you add PPH, the insect growth regulator, to the main insecticide, then you can influence the growth and development of beetles. Females treated with this compound will no longer be able to reproduce offspring.
- Boric acid. This is an excellent insect control product, because it is not only effective, but also safe for humans and animals. Boric acid in the form of a powder is simply scattered in the main places of accumulation of the skin tear. The beetle eats acid, which affects its nervous system, and then inevitably dies. Boric acid can be bought at a pharmacy, but a more concentrated form of the drug is sold at a hardware store.
- Traps. This is a special adhesive paper with an attractive smell for a bug. With the help of such a trap, you can not only mechanically catch a skin-eater, but also understand the scale of the problem. Sometimes we see only a few insects, when most of them are hidden from us in the cracks. And such a trap will show how numerous the colony of skin-eaters is.
- Antimole. Special tablets are placed in the closet near the fur and wool items, in the gap, under the baseboard. A small piece of poison is enough to kill a whole colony of insects.
- Steam generator. This is an excellent tool for the physical extermination of beetles. Steam carefully all cracks, skirting boards and corners of the room. After this treatment, not a single insect will survive.
When treating the premises with insecticidal drugs, protective equipment - gloves and a respiratory mask should be worn, because many compounds are quite aggressive and toxic to humans.
How to protect your home from a skin-eater
After you managed to clean the house of the skin-eater, you need to follow some rules that will not allow re-infection of your home. One of the first is to store seasonal items in an airtight container. Before storing winter items, they should be washed and thoroughly dried. For storage, place them in a tight plastic bag or plastic container. Once a few days, open the cabinet and leave it for a while in direct sunlight. Even if bugs start up in the closet, they will quickly leave it - such insects are afraid of sunlight. Sort things at least a couple of times a year, throw out unnecessary things, do not allow stagnation.
Leave a linen bag with mothballs, sprigs of lavender or wormwood in the closet. These smells scare away the bug, and it will not harm your property.
It is very important that you close the beetle's access to your home. If the windows in the apartment are constantly open, you need to put a fine mesh through which the insects can not get into you.Coat all cracks and holes, put the mesh on the ventilation shaft.
If there are animals in your home, carpets should be cleaned frequently and thoroughly. After all, wool is one of the favorite treats of the beetle. Sometimes beetles can sit on flowers. Therefore, before you bring a bouquet into the house, be sure to inspect the petals, leaves and stems of plants. Do not forget that the beetle also eats cereals. Store sugar, flour, peas, millet and other products in glass jars so that the skin-bearer cannot reach them.
When uninvited guests appear in the house in the form of unpleasant insects, you need to throw all your strength into the extermination of these pests. If you are unable to cope on your own, call a specialist who will perform the pest control. Do not put up with such a neighborhood, remember - it can be dangerous!
