With the beginning of the school year, mothers face a real test to remove various spots from white tissue. Blouses and shirts of schoolchildren get dirty all the time, but one of the most common and difficult to remove pollution is stains from a felt-tip pen.
Felt pens are different, depending on the basis on which they are made. The traces of water markers are the easiest to remove - they usually go away after normal washing. Felt pens can be greasy, alcoholic, chalky, paintwork. Depending on the basis, you need to choose the means of removing stains that will be most effective.
How to remove a stain from a felt-tip pen from white clothes
- Ammonia and soda. Mix ammonia and baking soda to form a mixture that needs to be applied to the stain. Then rinse the clothes and wash them in the washing machine at high temperature. This method is suitable for cleaning stains from water markers. If you don’t have soda at hand, you can simply pour a little ammonia on the stain and put a piece of unnecessary white cloth on the bottom. Pollution will simply go to the bottom layer.
- Alcohol. If the marker is alcohol-based, it can be removed with ordinary medical alcohol. Stretch your clothes over a basin or pan so that the stain is on top. Then pour the stain with alcohol. The pollution is simply washed away. Instead of medical alcohol, you can use any alcohol-containing solution - cologne or vodka.
- Solvent. If the felt-tip pen with which you stained your clothes is on a paint and varnish basis, you need to use a paint thinner, nail polish remover, clean gasoline. Moisten a cotton swab with the selected product and apply it to the stain for a while. Then rinse and wash the item thoroughly. This is usually enough. Often after this stain removal a new problem appears - the smell of gasoline or solvent. To avoid this, you need to dry the garment for a long time in the open air, so that the gasoline finally weathered. If the smell is still present, you can get rid of it by rinsing your clothes in lemon water. For this, the juice of one lemon is dissolved in a couple of liters of water. After such manipulations, there is no trace of an unpleasant odor.
- Oil and dishwashing detergent. If you get dirty with oil markers, you need to knock out a wedge with a wedge. Gently pour some oil on the stain. Do not worry - it’s much easier to remove oil marks! When you notice that the stain is pale or gone, the clothes are thoroughly rinsed. The next stage of cleansing is getting rid of the oil stain. Take the dish gel and apply it on the stain. Leave for half an hour, and then put the clothes in the washing machine. After washing, you will not find where the spot was!
- Bleach. Most professional stain removers for white laundry are a powerful formula against stains of various kinds. Pour the stain with the selected product and leave for a while. Then wash the clothes in the machine, adding a little of the same bleach. You will not only get rid of the stain, but also get the crystal whiteness of your favorite garment.
- Chlorine Using simple bleach, you can remove any stains from white things. Dilute the bleach with water to make a slurry, and then apply this slurry to the stain. Or just wet your clothes and sprinkle with a dry bleach stain. After 15-20 minutes, the stain will discolor and completely disappear. You just have to wash and dry your clothes. However, the use of bleach is possible only when cleaning natural cotton fabrics.By the way, instead of bleach, you can use chlorine-based detergents to clean the bathtubs and the toilet, for example, Domestos, Vanish, Duck Dressing.
How to clean white things depending on the type of fabric
For different types of fabric, you need to use different stain removers. For example, it is best to clean cotton and synthetics with hydrogen peroxide. Dampen a cotton pad in it and attach to the stain. As the disc becomes dirty, change it to a clean one. Thus, you can completely “stretch” the stain out of the fabric.
If you stained white jeans, acetone will help you. Dampen a cotton swab in it and attach to the stain. Then wash the denim at high temperatures.
If white wool is contaminated, a lot of effort will have to be made to remove the stain from the marker. To do this, you need lemon and baking soda. Mix the baking soda with lemon juice to make a slurry. Apply the product previously on an inconspicuous area of wool - on a fold or lining. This is done to test the reaction of the tissue, because this mixture is quite aggressive. If the fabric from such a mixture has not become crowded and has not lost its color, feel free to apply the prepared gruel to the stain. This is the last way to bring white woolen clothes to life.
Leather products that have been contaminated do not need to be washed. It is enough to wipe them with soapy water with the addition of nail polish remover. This will quickly and easily restore leather clothes to their original appearance.
Sometimes carpets are also stained with felt-tip pens. To get rid of this kind of stains, you need to process them with warm milk. Dairy products perfectly break down various coloring pigments. You just have to wash the place of contamination with a soapy sponge.
If it was not possible to remove the stain, do not rush to get rid of your pants, blouse or skirt. You can mask the stain with a beautiful applique in the form of lace, embroidery or a children's textile picture.
Traces of a felt-tip pen on white clothing are not worth the worry. You only need to correctly determine the type of felt-tip pen, and also take into account the type of fabric when choosing a stain remover. And then returning things to a crystalline whiteness is not difficult.
