Rabbit fur is very popular; hats, fur coats, and collars are made from it. Over time, the product wears out, overwrites, as a result of which there is a need for cleaning. It is important to understand that rabbit fur is a soft and delicate material that does not withstand heat treatment. Folk remedies designed to clean products of this kind will help restore their former shine and beauty.
Effective Rabbit Fur Cleaning Methods
Before you start cleaning the product with folk remedies, conduct a preliminary test on a barely visible area. Apply a cleaner, wait a quarter of an hour, remove it and evaluate the result. If the fur coat does not shed, feel free to proceed with the procedure.
Hydrogen peroxide
Semolina
For the procedure, you will need a vacuum cleaner (a compact car is suitable), a basin, semolina or potato starch (about 1.8 kg.). If your fur coat is very dirty, pre-open the fur from the lining, wash 2 parts separately. Pour 10 liters of warm water into a container, add semolina or potato starch. Dip the fur into the mixture, rinse well and shake thoroughly. At the end of all the manipulations, walk along the surface with a vacuum cleaner with a soft nozzle, spread the fur coat on a flat table, laying a white sheet. Sew the lining at the end of the cleaning and wear it with pleasure.
Oat bran
Wash the pan with a non-stick coating, dry it, pour 100 g into it. oat or flax bran. Turn on the stove and heat the composition, but in no case fry. After that, spread the coat on a flat surface, sprinkle it with warmed bran and rub well. If the composition is not enough, cook more. At the end of rubbing, the fur should be carefully combed out with a special comb in the direction of the pile and hung on the shoulders until it dries completely. Then again you need to treat the surface with a clothes brush, trying not to damage the fur. Some mistresses, for lack of combs, use an ordinary broom. In this case, there is a risk of contamination of the product.
Table vinegar
The composition is used to give silkiness to the hair and softness to delicate fabrics. For this reason, it is used when cleaning fur products. To prepare the solution, you need 9% table vinegar diluted with filtered water in a 1: 2 ratio. Dip a cosmetic swab into the resulting composition, swipe it several times on the growth of villi. Do not try to wipe the stain with strong pressure; proceed with caution. After all the manipulations, wipe the fur with a damp cloth, dry naturally (away from ultraviolet light) and comb.
Important!
Since rabbit fur is extremely delicate, only a mild vinegar solution should be used. If you apply the essence, dilute it with water at the rate of 100 ml. product per 1 liter of purified water.
Baby powder
Buy baby talcum powder with a camomile or without fragrance from a pharmacy. The method is considered dry, since it does not require preliminary treatment with water. Cover with talcum powder the entire surface of the product, rub it well into the pile. Leave on for 15 minutes to absorb any possible dirt and grease stains. At the end of the period, shake the fur coat so that the talcum powder spills, vacuum. Comb the product with a soft brush with a frequent arrangement of teeth (an animal tool is suitable). Also, a hair dryer (cold blowing) or a fan will help to remove the remnants of the product. You can replace talc with wheat flour, the principle of action is identical: poured, rubbed, removed using household appliances.
Petrol
Prepare corn starch, clean gasoline (suitable for lighters) and a brush for fur products in advance. Before proceeding with the treatment, open all windows, carry out the procedure away from open flame. Keep children and pets out of the room. Shake the fur coat several times, if possible “knock out” dust from it in a convenient way. Take 100 gr. starch, pour it with gas in such a way that a creamy mixture is obtained. Rub the resulting composition against the pile, shake, repeat the previous steps several more times. After all the steps, comb out the fur coat, removing residues. The smell of gasoline will disappear within 2-3 days.
Practical tips
- Since rabbit fur is extremely soft, you can not use hard brushes for floor surfaces, this error is considered the most common when processing products. After cleaning, the rabbit fur coat must be combed with a soft brush for clothes, then put on a cover and put it in the cabinet.
- Regarding winter storage, the product must be dried naturally before hanging on a coat hanger and put into a cupboard. Keep the fur coat away from heating radiators and other heating devices.
- Very often, a white rabbit fur coat begins to turn yellow. To prevent such consequences, place it in a dark (possibly blue) case of a rag or paper form. Choose a cool place to store. Make sure that there is no moth or mold in the cabinet. In this case, after placing the coat should hang freely, otherwise when the season sets in, it will be difficult for you to put the pile in order.
- Gel cleaners are used to clean small items such as a hat or collar. Dilute the cap of the drug in warm water, and then dip and rinse the item several times, do not squeeze. Hang on a coat hanger and let drain excess water. Send to dry in fresh air, avoid exposure to heat devices and direct sunlight. Throughout the entire drying process, periodically comb the fur, do not let the villi stick together.
- In cases where it is necessary to wash the lining on the cap, pull out the inside and pull the fur onto a three-liter jar. Steam the pile, rinse the lining in water with the addition of powder. Dry the products and fasten them together.
Not many folk remedies have been developed for cleaning a rabbit fur coat, however, the above recipes are easy to prepare and available components. Use ammonia, 9% vinegar, pure gasoline, perfume-free baby powder, or semolina. Remember to do a preliminary test before each treatment.
