Clothing has the unpleasant feature of getting dirty during socks. If we are talking about T-shirts or trousers, they are easier to clean than, for example, a mink coat. All fur products require careful care and certain precautions. Mink is not as easy to clear as it might seem at first glance. At the slightest non-observance of the instructions, there is a risk of permanently ruining the product.
Sawdust mink cleaning
If we talk about manufacturing enterprises, mink products are cleaned there using sawdust. The method is effective, so look at it first.
- You will need, respectively, sawdust and medical alcohol. Sawdust is best purchased at pet stores, they should be from oak, aspen, maple or linden.
- Prepare a container, send sawdust to it and pour it with alcohol. From some sources you can find out that gasoline is suitable for filling. But after it the unpleasant smell will remain for a long time.
- Mix sawdust with alcohol. Lay the fur product on a table or other flat surface. Sprinkle with cooked compound.
- Carefully begin to wrinkle the fur with your hands so that the wood absorbs all the dirt during the manipulation process. Then shake out the fur coat, comb it with a special brush for fur products.
Shampoo mink cleaning
Often spots appear on fur products that need to be eliminated first. In this case, the sawdust will not help, a cardinal approach is required.
- Choose a shampoo with maximum moisture so that the product does not dry the skin of the product. Make a basin of water at room temperature or bring the liquid to a maximum of 30 degrees.
- Pour in a cap of shampoo and mix by hand. It is important to get a dense foam. Take the second container, fill it with clean (soft) water without impurities.
- Spread a fur coat on a flat surface, arm yourself with a sponge. Dip it in the solution and go through the area of the fur product that needs cleaning.
- Do not wet the fur so that subsequently the fur coat does not become too wet. Try not to touch the leather part at all.
- After wiping, walk with a clean cloth dampened with warm water. Then get rid of moisture on the fur coat using a paper towel or napkins.
- Finally, comb the fur with a thin comb or a special brush for clothes. Leave the coat to dry on its shoulders in a well-ventilated area.
Sand mink
The method relates to environmentally friendly and safe. To clean a mink coat, follow the instructions.
- Collect river sand, then rinse it several times under the tap. Pour boiling water additionally, allow excess moisture to drain.
- Prepare a frying pan, put all the sand in it and heat on a fire to a temperature between medium and high.
- Spread the mink coat on a flat surface, sprinkle with warm sand. Only touch the dirtiest parts of the product.
- Wait until the sand reaches room temperature. Then shake the fur coat and comb it.
Talcum Mink Cleaning
At home, you can clean the mink coat with a regular powder, or talcum powder. The composition is famous for having the ability to absorb excess dirt and grease. A particularly effective way is for white mink.
- Before starting work, arm yourself with thin medical gloves. Select a flat surface and spread a fur product on it.
- Sift the talcum powder, then sprinkle on it the entire coat with contaminated sites. No need to lay out the powder, as they say, with a slide. Just work through the pile carefully.
- When the powder covers the entire coat, begin to slowly rub it into the surface. After that, take the product to fresh air and gently shake.
- You can additionally work out the thing with a hairdryer, using cold air. So the powder is quickly blown out of the cavity of the product. At the end, comb the fur coat.
- Talc can be bought at the pharmacy. But if you do not have such an opportunity, use regular corn or potato starch. Processing technology is identical. The main thing is to comb the fur coat well in the end.
Cleaning mink semolina
Semka refers to those inexpensive food products that are also widely used in everyday life. Choose a quality composition and follow the instructions.
- Semolina returns shine to a fur coat and perfectly absorbs dirt. To begin manipulation, select a flat surface and spread the product.
- Semka copes with dirt on pockets, collars, cuffs. It also removes yellowness, which often appears on white fur products.
- Sprinkle contaminated areas with dry semolina and gently rub with your hands without strong pressure. After that, shake out the wardrobe item well and comb the fur coat.
How to clean stains from a mink coat
All of the above methods, with the exception of shampooing, relate to dry processing. To eliminate persistent contamination from the surface of the fur product, you have to resort to the wet method.
Soap solution
- Pour water at a temperature of 30 degrees into the basin, add a little baby shampoo or liquid soap. Beat in foam.
- Spread the mink product on the table, lower the sponge into the solution and go through the contaminated places.
- Do not wet the leather part, so as not to provoke dampness. After cleaning, treat the fur coat with a damp, clean cloth, comb the fur.
Table vinegar
- The solution is used to give white and dark fur products shine. Arm yourself with vinegar with a concentration of no higher than 6%. Dip a cotton sponge in it and squeeze.
- Spread the thing on the table, carefully walk around the spot. If the fur is short, move against its growth. For long movements are carried out by height.
- To avoid harming your favorite product, be sure to squeeze a cotton pad. Vinegar should not penetrate the skin of a fur coat.
Gasoline for lighters
- Gasoline for refueling lighters is considered the cleanest, therefore, suitable for removing complex contaminants from a fur product. This option is suitable only for dark fur coats.
- Dampen a clothes brush, then comb a little thing with it. Do not have a strong mechanical impact, move with a "light hand".
- Finally, leave the coat in the fresh air for ventilation. Most importantly, avoid exposure to direct ultraviolet rays. Otherwise, spots will appear on things.
Cleaning the mink coat lining
- Often after the season of wearing a fur coat, the fur remains almost clean, which can not be said about the lining. To carry out the manipulation with maximum benefit, it is recommended to tear off the fabric. Use a special tool, do not damage the product.
- After neatly performed manipulations, stretch the fabric. Determine the type of lining in advance and set the appropriate mode on the washing machine. If the fabric is polyester or silk, the temperature should not exceed 40 degrees.
- If the lining is made of cotton, the temperature may be higher. After washing, rinse the product thoroughly. This way you can avoid stains when dried. After the last action, iron the fabric thoroughly and carefully sew it back onto the fur coat.
- Not everyone decides on such a crucial step. If you doubt that you can sew a lining of high quality, clean it on a fur coat.Note that in this case, manipulation should be carried out with extreme caution. In no case should you wet the bottom of the fur coat.
- To thoroughly clean the lining, it is recommended to soak the sponge with foam and distribute the soap composition on the inside of the fur coat. Next, the fabric must be cleaned with a clothes brush. The soapy solution is removed with a damp sponge. After that, pat the lining with a cloth.
- Hang the coat on a hanger in a suitable place, while keeping the temperature at room temperature. Keep in mind that there should not be excessive humidity in the room. It’s not a secret for anyone that in wet weather in winter, a fur coat gets dirty most from below, therefore it is recommended to sew an additional lining in advance.
Precautionary measures
In order not to spoil an expensive product, it is important to follow simple recommendations.
- Remember, the fur coat must not be washed in any case. As a result, the fur irrevocably deforms and deteriorates.
- Do not try to dry the product near batteries, open flames and heaters. The fur also deteriorates.
- If you find yourself in adverse weather conditions, and the coat is wet, hang it on a hanger. Dry the product in a room at natural temperature.
- Do not try to stroke the fur, even at minimum temperature. In any case, you can not get rid of strong folds without consequences.
- It is strictly forbidden to store the product when folded. If this has already happened, hang the coat on a hanger. After a while, it should stretch out.
Mink coat care
- Clean the fur only as needed. Look at the degree of contamination of the product. From frequent dry cleaning, the pile loses its pristine structure and begins to crumble. Take the habit of using the services of professionals.
- On average, mink coats can withstand up to 5 dry cleaners. It is forbidden to keep a fur coat in plastic bags. Such material strongly electrifies the pile. In addition, the fur deteriorates due to a lack of oxygen.
- Each time you leave a thing for long-term storage in a special room, make sure there are no pests. So that the fur coat does not suffer from various insects, it is recommended to treat the room with special means.
- In popular councils in the fight against pests, a simple newspaper has proven itself well. Fill the sleeves with paper, printing ink repels insects (moles). In addition, the fur coat will keep its good shape. It is forbidden to store other fur things nearby.
- Remember that fur products perfectly absorb various odors. Therefore, before storage, the room must be carefully ventilated. In the room you can put a special bag with pleasant incense.
- It is forbidden to spray perfume on a fur coat; stains often remain from a cosmetic product. The latter cannot be removed even with dry cleaning. Do not try to always carry a bag on your arm or shoulder. In this place, soon the fur will simply be erased.
If the mink fur coat is not too dirty, resort to dry cleaning methods. In this case, semolina, talc without perfumes, hot sand will do. To remove complex contaminants you will need complex artillery in the form of gasoline for refueling lighters, vinegar, shampoo with water.
