- Bread box. It would seem that the bread box is the most optimal way to store bread. Usually the bread box is quite airtight and has only a few microscopic openings for ventilation. However, it must be properly looked after. Grandmothers advise keeping one fresh apple in the breadbox; it allows the bread to always remain soft. Wash the breadbox at least once a week.
