Often it happens that the boots are ideally suited to the size of the foot, but they strongly press on the lower leg. From here the swelling of the limbs appears, walking becomes unbearable. To correct the situation, people resort to all sorts of tricks. If we talk about boots made of thick leather, stretching the boot is easy enough. But what do girls and women who wear boots made of thin material do? Experienced housewives, through trial and error, have come up with effective ways to help cope with the problem.
Method number 1. Shoe Stretcher
In leather goods stores and shoes, you can purchase a special composition designed for such purposes. In some cases, the tool is used to eliminate friction while wearing new shoes.
The technology for using this kind of product is quite transparent: spray the composition onto the shaft area inside and outside, put on, fasten the zipper. Start doing household chores, wait until the shoes are completely dry. The method is good in that the product perfectly stretches boots from both genuine leather and substitute.
The most popular means are considered to be the products of the company "Kiwi", "Twist", "Salamander", "Salton". The listed manufacturers produce products in the form of gels, sprays, and foams. Choose the form of release at your discretion, they are all equally effective.
A feature of the stretch of patent or suede shoes is the fact that the composition must be applied exclusively from the inside. Otherwise, spots, cracks and stains form on the surface of the product. The procedure can be repeated until you achieve the desired result.
Method number 2. Castor oil
Many people use castor oil to soften rough skin, but not everyone knows that such a product can be used as a stretcher.
You can increase the shaft as follows: pour castor oil into a ceramic or glass bowl, heat it in the microwave to a temperature of 45-50 degrees. Wash and dry your shoes, dampen a foam sponge in oil and treat the boots from the outside and inside.
Put on knitted socks, leggings or tight high socks, fasten your boots, walk in them for about 3 hours. At the end of the period, without taking off your shoes, again walk along the surface with a sponge dipped in oil. The exposure time depends on how much you need to stretch the shaft.
After all the manipulations, take off your shoes, stuff the boots with a cloth or newspapers, leave to dry completely. At the end of the period, wipe the outside with a flannel cloth; if necessary, stretch again.
Method number 3. Frozen water
For effective stretching, you need a dense plastic bag that can withstand freezing water and will not break. Pour cold water into the cavity, place the bag of liquid inside the bootleg, fasten the zipper. Send the product to the freezer until it is completely frozen.
It is known that when freezing, water increases in size, along with this the shaft will begin to stretch. Keep the boots in the freezer for about 5 hours after solidification, then remove and leave at room temperature for 3 hours. After that fill the top with newspapers, wait for the final drying. Complete the manipulations by treating the shoes with cream, in case of insufficient result, stretch again.
Method number 4. Newspapers
As mentioned earlier, the boot of leather shoes stretches quite easily. Natural materials are flexible, but you should not make every effort not to damage the product. An excellent option for stretching is considered to be the use of paper or rags as a pad.
To carry out the procedure correctly, take an old rag or newspapers, crumple the material into a ball, then fill the bootleg. Moisten the shoes with water (temperature 40 degrees), leave to dry at room temperature. In no case do not dry your boots on heating radiators, otherwise they will lose their shape and will be covered with mounds.
After 2-3 days, the shoes will completely dry, you just have to pull out the packing and evaluate the result. If the bootleg is not stretched enough, repeat the procedure, but this time put more newspapers. Finish the stretch by applying a nourishing cream to fix the result.
Method number 5. Iron
The technology of stretching is designed for medium or large thickness skin. Patent shoes, lycra or too thin leather should not be treated in this way. For the procedure, you will need a cotton or gauze cloth and an iron. If possible, bring an assistant to the stretch, as the procedure is best performed by two.
Set the ironing board, unzip the boot and lay it with the zipper up. Heat the iron, soak a cloth in filtered (!) Water and place it on the shin area in the inside of the boots. Without sparing steam, start ironing the product, make sure that no liquid drains from the iron. It is important to remember forever: only drinking water should be poured into the iron. It does not contain impurities and heavy metals, so it will not leave stains.
When you moisturize the skin of the boots sufficiently strongly, set the iron aside, then begin to stretch the shaft in different directions. Try to perform the procedure without jerking, smoothly and evenly. In order not to overdo it with stretching, after steaming, measure the calf index, then pull the skin to the desired mark.
After processing, fasten the boot, stuff it with a cloth or paper, leave to dry at room temperature. The newspaper needs to be rammed tightly, otherwise the skin will sit down. If desired, you can replace the paper with a wooden block of the necessary size. The drying time after such a procedure is approximately equal to 2-3 days.
Method number 6. Bottle and pencils
Pick a glass bottle that will match the size of the bootleg. Moisten the boot in hot water, insert a container into it, fasten the zipper. Now pour hot water into the jar, prepare pencils for drawing. Insert one stationery tool between the bottle and the shoe wall. Take a second pencil, do the same. Repeat until there is no room to insert pencils.
After that, leave the shoes to dry at room temperature away from heating radiators. For the product to take shape, you need about 2 days. If the result is insufficient, repeat the procedure. If the shoes are made of leatherette, the procedure is not recommended. The material may swell due to hot water.
It is easy to stretch the bootleg at home, if you follow practical recommendations. Stuff your shoes with old rags or newspapers; consider stretching with castor oil. Buy a product in the store for such purposes, insert a bag of water in the top and freeze. Stretch your skin with a hot water bottle, leave to dry completely.
