To date, gel polish is widely popular among a fair half of the population, and this is not surprising. Due to the high performance properties of the coating, girls can do homework without fear of spoiling the manicure. However, there are cases when the individual structure of the nail plate does not allow the gel to stay for a long time. From here begin the difficulties with regard to extending the life of the coating. It makes no sense to make corrections every week, because a quality manicure is enough for half a month.
Why gel polish exfoliates: external causes
- The coating exfoliates due to the use of a poor-quality primer, the lack of proper degreasing of the plate, and also due to poor drying and polishing of the native nail.
- There are frequent cases when the gel polish begins to recede when there is damage to the cuticle or if the master cut the free edge of the nail too much. The formation of a hematoma does not allow to apply the composition properly.
- The base layer determines the final result. When a specialist is in a hurry, he may not finish it. A short exposure interval between the base and the next layer exposes the future manicure.
- The cause of delamination of the gel polish may be the application of a large amount of the basic composition. As a result, the coating is polymerized unevenly, “weak links” are formed in the cavity, which trigger the cracking process.
- If for some reason the gel polish got on the skin around the nail and was not removed on time, the coating begins to fall off this area due to a large accumulation of fat. Exfoliated varnish pulls a composition applied directly to the nail itself.
- The gel polymerizes for 2-3 hours. Throughout this period, there is gloss on the nails, which should be fixed. If the varnish is exposed to moisture, the coating is automatically doomed to failure.
- If we talk about the impact on the plate of household products, they destroy the gel. As a result of homework, chemistry enters the coating structure, spoiling it from the inside.
Why gel polish exfoliates: internal causes
There are other factors that affect coating quality. As a rule, the malfunctioning of internal organs becomes a consequence of a violation of the structure of gel polish.
- For some girls, the nail plate has too many bumps. In such situations, the specialist is not entitled to rectify the situation. Not a single coating is held on the nails. The same applies to severe sweating of the hands.
- There are a number of diseases that metabolize constantly. As a result of taking a course of antibiotics, manicure becomes impossible. Of the common diseases of this category, diabetes mellitus and a serious inflammatory process of the gastrointestinal tract, kidneys, and liver can be distinguished.
- Every woman has difficulty coating during the menstrual cycle, lactation, menopause. Due to hormonal disruptions, the plate becomes hilly and porous, so the coating simply does not linger on the nails.
How to apply gel polish for a long time
1.5 hours before the manicure, give up water procedures. Do not wash your hands, do not take a bath / shower, do not wet the apartment. Otherwise, the plate will soften, open pores on the nail will not allow the coating to hold for a long time.
- If according to individual characteristics your nails exfoliate strongly, warn this feature. Cut off the free edge and treat it with a glass file.
- Next, degrease the surface with a special compound or table vinegar. In no case use acetone-containing products, do not allow the degreasing product to get on the cuticle.
- Before applying gel polish, rotate the bottle between your palms. No need to shake the tube, otherwise the resulting bubbles will reduce the quality of the coating by 40%.
- Apply the base, dry it for 1 minute. Repeat the procedure, but now pay due attention to the edge of the nail. Distribute the product on it and seal it, send it again for drying.
- After applying two layers, the nails are covered with a finish. It is distributed over the entire surface, then with a brush it is carried out along the free edge (sealing).
- The finish is dried for 90-120 seconds, after which the sticky layer is removed with a special liquid. At the end of the procedure, you can not wash your hands in the next 2-3 hours.
Practical recommendations
- Before you go on a manicure, assess the condition of your own nails. If after building they break down badly, bend, flake, postpone the procedure for another time.
- Clean your nails with professional cosmetic formulations or folk remedies. Gel polish can only be used on a solid, healthy plate.
- During the day before the procedure, do not use oil baths or other compounds that are absorbed into the nails. The coating is applied to a natural plate in which there are no fatty acids from cosmetics.
- Immediately after applying gel polish, avoid sudden changes in temperature. Set aside a visit to the thermal complexes for a better time, do not take a shower or bath. Hot water slows down the polymerization, so for 3 days you need to wash your hands with a cold cycle.
- Take the habit of using rubber gloves when washing dishes, doing wet cleaning of the home, and washing clothes by hand. Avoid any exposure to household chemicals, it minimizes the duration of gel polish socks.
- Avoid mechanical impact on gel polished nails. This includes opening cans and bottles, opening bottles, etc. Do not lick your fingers and do not bite your nails. Protect the plate while cooking so that the knife does not damage the finish.
- The coating is successfully held on nails for 2-3 weeks. After this time, the native nail grows, the gel polish begins to pull the free edge. In order not to disturb the structure of native nails, make a timely correction.
- Do not gel nails continuously. After 3-4 corrections, take a break for 1 month. At this time, cover your nails with biolegem or Smart Enamel (sold at the pharmacy). The listed compounds treat the plate from the inside.
- It is known that gel polish seals the free edge of the nail. For this reason, do not file up the plate at all times during socks. Otherwise, you will damage the coating, mass cracking and chip formation will begin.
Ask the master to apply the gel polish in a very thin layer. Make sure that the composition is dried under the lamp for at least 90 seconds. After the procedure, avoid any contact with water for 3 hours. Do not take a hot shower or bath in the coming days. Perform gloved housework; do not file the free edge after sealing. Take a break every 2 months of socks, at this time restore your native nails.
