Put oats in the ground

Then did not know the word siderata. And they didn’t hear about mustard. But they perfectly solved the problem by sowing oats and rye. The neighbor always sowed any vacant patch of the garden. Even the smallest garden. But she didn’t give a big crop. As soon as the seedlings reached a height of about 17-21 cm, the grandmother walked with an ordinary scythe.

Cut low, almost at the very ground. Just did not lay in rows, like hay in a meadow, but rather, tried to spread the greens wider. As it grew, she again took the scythe into her hands. And so on until the frosts. During this time, a decent layer of mulch was obtained. The roots remaining in the ground also did a useful job. Indeed, many people know - where the rye is sown, even the smallest weed will not slip. The fibrous root system simply will not miss.

Isn’t hefty fat?

Once the wind brought us a specific smell of manure. What? Neighbor does not seem to welcome.Curiosity overpowered the feeling of tact, went to watch. I look, a neighbor scoops something with a liter mug from a large barrel, adds it to a bucket of water, and watered her plantings. I asked what a stink.

It turned out burda. Now we call this liquid liquid green fertilizer. Hence the smell. Whoever ever tried to prepare such a mixture, the aroma will not forget. But the most important thing is that from such top dressing the plants are directly in front of the eyes. They do not care about amber, the composition is much more important. And in properly prepared top dressing, all the most necessary microelements, moreover, in easily digestible form. Catch the recipe, the neighbor does not mind:

• 100 l of water
• 0.5 kg raw yeast
• 1 liter of old jam
• any fresh grass, 10 kg

All this stuff is placed in a suitable container, mixed well and left in the sun for 5-7 days. Grandmother told me to cover. Not from the stench, "perhaps be patient." In order "so that the birds do not get poisoned, they fly to drink."

After a week of infusion, the solution is mixed with ordinary water in a ratio of 1 to 10, and the plantings are watered. You can even just spray directly on the foliage.

But, this is not only effective top dressing. Bacteria living in this mixture have a very beneficial effect on the overall fertility of the soil. We are already aware of this. And then they did not think, it helps and okay.
