A wasp, when bitten, injects poison under the skin. The process is accompanied by sharp severe pain and burning. Soft tissues swell and swelling appears. Its size depends on the place where the insect stung, as well as the amount of toxins obtained by bite. A person who is allergic to bee or wasp venom is immediately given antihistamines and then hospitalized in a hospital. Doesn't the bite threaten life? You can deal with edema with improvised means.
First aid
Wasps remove a sting from soft tissues, leaving a small hole in the skin. The bitten area turns red and bleeds slightly. If the sting is stuck, it is gently poked with nails or tweezers and pulled out. You can’t press with your fingers on damaged tissue, otherwise the swelling will increase.
The wound is washed with antibacterial soap, then treated with any alcohol-containing agent:
- peroxide;
- vodka;
- tincture of calendula;
- ammonia or ordinary alcohol;
- iodine.
An antiseptic like Chlorhexidine or Miramistin will do. The bite is necessarily disinfected, because it is not known how many bacteria were on the sting of the insect. Damaged skin should not be scratched or scratched, poked with a knife or needle so that infection or germs do not enter the bloodstream. After treatment with alcohol, the wound is covered with a gauze dressing or a patch is glued on top.
Tip: If you don’t have alcohol or an antiseptic on hand, you need to find a package of aspirin in the medicine cabinet. Crush one or several tablets, sprinkle the wound with the obtained powder. The drug contains salicylic acid, which has antimicrobial properties.
The patient is placed on a sofa or in bed, give sweet tea or warm water with sugar. A person has experienced stress, so it is important to calm him down and help him relax. The less worried the patient, the faster the swelling will come down.
Pieces of ice wrapped in a clean towel, or gauze soaked in cold water are applied to the damaged area. Low temperatures slow down blood circulation and the spread of poison. Less soft tissues swell, pain passes, and the itch becomes not so strong.
The dressing is changed when the fabric begins to heat up. Apply ice for 2–2.5 hours, then keep it useless.
People who have been stung by an insect on the cheek or tongue are hospitalized in the hospital, because a bite can provoke Quincke's edema. Before the doctors arrive, the mouth is rinsed with cold water or a piece of ice is absorbed.
What to drink
In severe edema, accompanied by severe itching and redness, it is recommended to take antihistamines:
- Tsetrin;
- Loratadine;
- Eden;
- Diazolin;
- Diphenyhydramine;
- Suprastin;
- Tavegil.
The wound 3-4 hours after the bite is treated with antihistamine ointment or gel, like Fenistil, Psilo-Balsam or Bepanten. Suitable "Panthenol" or "Rescuer." Hormonal drugs like Diprosalik or Fluorocort help, but they have more contraindications and side effects.
Get involved in antihistamines is not advised. Some drugs can not be taken with a stomach ulcer, others with epilepsy, so before use, you need to spend 5 minutes to study the instructions.
In people stung by a wasp, not only edema appears, but also other symptoms:
- headache;
- temperature rise;
- nausea;
- weakness.
This means that the insect entered a large blood vessel, and toxins spread throughout the body. A person should drink mineral or filtered water so that the body cleans itself of poison more quickly.Sorbents are useful, such as activated carbon, Regidron or Enterosgel, as well as Smecta.
A gauze swab dipped in cool water with salt or sugar is applied to the edema. The tool draws out toxins, preventing them from being absorbed into the blood.
What to do if a wasp stings in nature
The insect attacked while resting outside the city, and in the medicine cabinet there are no antihistamines and peroxide? The wound and the skin around it are washed with water from a bottle. It is forbidden to dip a limb into a river or lake.
The affected area is watered with vodka, a fresh onion or a leaf of plantain is applied, which is washed and knead with your fingers until the juice appears. It is undesirable to take alcohol inside so that your health does not worsen.
The victim is recommended to move less, drink more water, compote, tea or fruit drink.
Lotions from edema
To swollen soft tissues apply gauze soaked in parsley juice. To prepare the medicine, the greens are washed under the tap, knead with a tablespoon. The gruel is transferred to gauze and squeezed juice. In a greenish liquid, a cotton swab or a clean cloth is moistened, the wound is closed with a swab and sealed with a plaster. Hold for 2-4 hours, then prepare a fresh remedy.
Tip: Parsley can not be mashed in a wooden mortar, because the dishes instantly absorb juice.
Edema will quickly pass if a compress from the alcohol tincture of calendula is applied to the reddened area. The product is not diluted with anything. The first lotion is kept for 20–40 minutes, then 30 g of soda is mixed with 50–60 ml of water and rubbed into the skin.
The itching will pass if you apply mint to the wound. Fresh leaves are wrinkled in the hands or beaten off with a spoon so that the juice comes out, then they are fixed on the swollen area with bandages. The mint dressing is changed every 2-3 hours.
Medicinal plants
Severe itching and swelling will remove the herbs:
- sagebrush;
- dandelion;
- thyme;
- tansy leaves;
- Kalanchoe.
Only fresh stems and leaves, as well as flowers, work. Grind the plant or crush, you can finely chop. Wrap gruel in several layers of gauze, attach to a disinfected wound.
Important: A bleeding bite is treated with alcohol-containing agents. Juice and leaves of plants are used when a crust appears on the hole remaining after the sting.
Decoctions or alcohol lotions are prepared from herbs. It is advisable to cool the infusion, and then moisten cotton wool, clean cloth or gauze in it and put it on the swollen part of the body.
Help from the fridge
Sour vegetables or berries neutralize wasp venom, reducing swelling. A lemon is suitable, which is cut into slices and applied to reddened skin.
Squeeze juice from citrus, in which a gauze dressing is moistened. The product is replaced with table or apple cider vinegar diluted with water. Lemon compresses soothe itching. Acetic lotions help with burning and fever.
Apples and garlic
Garlic is a product with antibacterial properties that contains volatile products. Substances remove redness, contribute to the rapid restoration of soft tissues. Crush a few peeled cloves or finely chop, put the resulting slurry on the wound and the skin around it. Cover with gauze and wait 2-3 hours. First, a burning sensation appears easily, then the discomfort disappears. Instead of garlic, use gruel from onions with salt or vinegar.
Tomatoes and Potatoes
To the arm or leg swollen after a wasp sting, the pulp of ripe tomatoes is applied.Knead the fruits with a fork until a homogeneous consistency is laid out on a napkin so that the product does not spread throughout the body. Swelling is removed and green tomatoes. Unripened vegetables do not need to be crushed. The fruits are cut, half covered the affected area and winding the workpiece with a bandage.
Potatoes can soothe irritation and inflammation. Grate the peeled tubers on a fine grater to make a homogeneous paste. Put the mass in a gauze bag. Treat the wound with potato juice. Hold lotion for 40-60 minutes.
Swelling, which is more than 2-3 days, is recommended to be lubricated with unrefined sunflower or sea buckthorn oil. Burning passes after 30 minutes after applying the product, and the swelling disappears after a day.
Fancy ways
Fresh bite is advised to lubricate with sulfur from the ear, if no other means are at hand. It is impossible for the product to fall into an open wound. The sulfur secreted by the ear canals contains a lot of dirt and germs. If bacteria enter the bloodstream, there is a high chance of infection.
The place where the insect stung is recommended to burn nettles. Put a plastic bag or glove on your hand, pick a fresh twig of grass, and strike several times on the reddened skin. At first itching appears, but gradually it disappears along with edema. There remains a small blister, as after a mosquito bite.
Important: The method with nettle is contraindicated in people who are allergic to the plant.
It is recommended to apply a fresh leaf of beets to the swollen part of the body, as well as to lubricate the reddened skin with a thin layer of honey. The Validol tablet soaked in water helps.
With severe edema, you need to drink an antihistamine. To the place of the bite, attach a mixture, which includes:
- activated carbon tablet;
- baking soda;
- aspirin;
- tablet "Validol".
Prepare a thick slurry from the crushed components, adding a little liquid.
The second version of medical paste consists of white or blue clay and alcohol diluted with water. Edema is also lubricated with toothpaste, Levomekol or Boro-plus.
Redness and swelling after a wasp sting passes on 3-5 days. The main thing is to use folk or pharmacy products, apply cold and do not soar the swollen part of the body. If an insect has got into the eye, neck or tongue, or dizziness has appeared with nausea, you should immediately consult a doctor.
