How to remove corns on your feet at home

Summer is coming soon - the time is when everyone wears open shoes, sandals, slippers, or even walk barefoot. Right now, the problem of corns and calluses on the legs, which in no way add beauty to our feet, becomes more acute than ever. And getting rid of them is not only not so simple, but also completely useless, especially if you don’t know what and with what regularity they appear.

How to remove corns on your feet

Causes of corns on the legs

The corns are more a woman’s problem than a man’s, especially because of the shoes. Despite the fact that young ladies pay much more attention to the feet than the strong half of humanity, still addicted to heels, narrow soles and uncomfortable, but beautiful pads - this is our eternal scourge, because of which, unfortunately, suffer primarily feet, because they have body weight, and even the load on the shoes. In addition, dry corns can be caused by:

  • overweight and hormonal disorders;
  • flatfoot and varicose veins;
  • circulatory disturbance, due to which the skin coarsens;
  • fungal infections.

Some doctors associate coarsening of the skin on the feet with internal diseases. For example, dry corn near the thumb, according to their theory, indicates gynecological problems; on the left leg, under the little finger - about diseases of the heart and blood vessels; under the right - about abnormalities in the work of the liver and the gastrointestinal tract (the corns on the inside of the foot are also talking about this); on the edge of the heel - about problems with the spine.

Medical treatment of dry corns

  1. Most often, corns are equated with not very deep warts and frozen with liquid nitrogen; a cold, painless burn is formed, and after a few days it is delayed by new clean skin. This method is called cryodestruction.
  2. In second place is laser removal. Here the principle is simple - a coarse layer of skin is removed with a laser beam. The treatment is not cheap, but after the procedure there are no traces left, and with subsequent proper care of the feet with the selection of appropriate shoes, you will forget about the problem.
  3. Keratolytic cream basically contains salicylic acid. It must be applied over a coarse place, fixed with a band-aid and left overnight. The cream is not completely absorbed, therefore, in the morning, having removed the patch, its remains will need to be washed off with water, and the softened skin in place of corns should be removed with a pumice or brush. After one procedure, you will achieve a temporary effect, but after a month or two, dry corns will appear again, so do not stop at one session, but do a few.
  4. Anti-adhesive patches can be bought without a doctor’s recommendation. You should cut out a piece that would completely cover the corn, but not affect healthy skin, stick it, fix it with an ordinary patch and leave for a couple of days.
  5. A hardware pedicure should be performed by a qualified, experienced craftsman. During the procedure, the skin is sanded with a special machine, thereby dead cells are removed, and thus dry corns can be removed once and for all.
  6. Surgical removal is already a radical measure, which is rarely used, and only in very advanced cases. The corns are cut off with a knife, and after such an operation, small scars may remain on the skin.

How to get rid of corns at home

If the cause of the problem lies in wearing unsuitable shoes, then the first action in the fight against dry calluses should be to replace it with more comfortable shoes; a heel is permitted, but not a hairpin, and not more than 4 centimeters high. And with flat feet, arch support and orthopedic insoles will come to the rescue, which will help to rationally distribute the load falling on the foot.

How to get rid of corns at home

To prescribe medical procedures and drugs, you should consult an orthopedic surgeon, and he will be able to expertly help with solving the problem by choosing a treatment that is appropriate for the reasons for its appearance.

Folk remedies and self-treatment can only give a temporary result, they will not cure the primary source of the appearance of corns, however, in cases where it is not possible right now to seek professional advice, you can resort to methods and tools tested by the experience of thousands, if not millions, of predecessors.

Special creams
Firstly, do not forget about the need to lubricate the feet with a nourishing cream - in winter this is necessary in order to protect them from drying out, because the legs are constantly (for some even at night) in warm socks, and in summer - on the contrary, the skin becomes rough from walking barefoot , even at home, from open-toe sandals and so on. But they will not get rid of existing corns. To this end, cosmetic companies produce special creams that are aimed at removing corns due to their active emollient and healing properties. In addition, it has recently become known, quickly gaining popularity and recognition, the solution that is applied immediately before the pedicure - it acts gently, but at the same time instantly removes the coarse layer of the skin, replacing devices with blades.

Compresses and lotions
Compresses and lotions are also very effective and act very quickly. But due to the fact that one of the ingredients is most often chopped onions, on weekdays, when you need to rush to work in the morning, you won’t do it, because the smell is unlikely to have time to weather. To prepare a compress, grate the onion on a fine grater and distribute the resulting slurry to problem areas, then wrap the feet with cling film, fixing the compress, but not tightening. Next, you need to wrap your leg with bandage or gauze and put on your socks (the warmer the better, the ideal option is woolen). Leave the compress overnight, remove in the morning, wash your feet and remove the softened layer of skin with a pumice stone or a hard washcloth. Complete the procedure with foot cream or regular talcum powder. If you still do not want to use onions, try replacing them with tomato paste or propolis - these products also have a softening property.

A similar recipe for the preparation of compresses from celandine. Stalks must be chopped, applied to the feet and wrapped in plastic wrap or polyethylene, put on cotton socks soaked in oil and woolen ones over them. The main difference of this method is the exposure time. The compress from the celandine must be removed after a few hours, since it is a poisonous plant that can cause burns and wounds. Rinse the pulp and attach aloe vera leaves to the corns, cut so that the fleshy part is at the foot. It is recommended to use the plant "aged", as a young one-year-old does not have such an effect. Then again wrap yourself in a film and now go to bed while the aloe heals the cracks and softens the corns.

Foot baths
Trays from corns
Such procedures soften the skin of the feet and have a beneficial effect on blood circulation, improving circulation. They are recommended to be done regularly, especially if you are going to start a pedicure, as corns evaporate in hot water, nails and rough skin soften, which can then be easily removed.For the treatment of corns, use the following recipe: hot water, in which you can soar your feet (about 2 liters), a tablespoon of ammonia and baking soda, as well as remnants that cleanse the skin. There are no special time limits - you can keep your feet in water from 10 minutes to half an hour, depending on the degree of skin roughness. After steaming, thoroughly rub the problem areas with coarse-grained pumice and grease with a greasy healing nourishing cream. Do regular baths with the addition of sea salt, and your corns will not be afraid of any corns!

Ointments

In pharmacies, special remedies for dry calluses are sold, which are mostly aimed at softening them. Nevertheless, you can not wait for the appointment of a doctor and purchase salicylic-zinc paste (it is also a budget, very ancient and effective way to eliminate acne). Before using it, it is advisable to steam the legs so that the paste penetrates as deep as possible under the skin in 6-8 hours of exposure. Since it is not absorbed, cover with cotton wool on top and secure with a band-aid. By the way, salicylic acid is also included in many creams that are used in medical treatment.

Another remedy is Teymurov's ointment, which our grandmothers used to reduce perspiration and eliminate odor. In a word, this is one of the first versions of the current antiperspirant, and in this case it also eliminates, first of all, diaper rash and sweating of the legs, and, accordingly, corns, if they are caused by excessive sweating.

Even such a minor, at first glance, the problem requires intervention, and preferably professional. Indeed, with self-medication, you can inadvertently infect or aggravate the situation, and the doctor will monitor the entire treatment process. And in order to prevent the appearance of corns, do not forget about taking care of your feet, regular pedicure and - necessarily - comfortable shoes that will not squeeze your legs neither in lifting, nor in your fingers, nor in your heels. And, despite the fact that beauty requires sacrifice, do not give it your health, do not abuse heels.

I used to go to the salon for pedicures, but now I’m doing it very well from corns. I found an effective remedy for myself - oderma ointment. A couple of times a month after the bath I put on the heels, wrap it with cling film. When the skin softens, remove it with a pumice stone.
