Gums are the foundation of teeth that supports them and provides them with nutrients. If they swell and begin to bleed, you should consult your dentist. Symptoms indicate the development of gingivitis, which, without proper treatment, develops into periodontitis. To protect your teeth from loss, and the oral cavity from infections, you need to take care of the gums and strengthen them in a timely manner.
Hygiene versus Gingivitis
The cause of inflammation and bleeding is bacteria. They settle on the teeth and gums after every snack or drink any drinks, even water. Microbes multiply, attacking enamel and soft tissues, caries and other dental troubles appear.
The basic rules of healthy gums:
- Use the toothpaste as directed at least twice a day.
- Make friends with floss, which should always be at hand. Use the dental floss to clean the spaces between the teeth after each snack, even if there was only an apple or candy for lunch.

If all hygiene rules are observed, the likelihood of caries and gingivitis is reduced. But if the usual paste and rinse was not enough to protect yourself from problems with the gums, it is recommended to use folk experience.
Important: Before applying homeopathic recipes, you should visit the dentist and use ultrasound to remove tartar. If you neglect this procedure, strengthening the gums with alternative methods will not give positive results.
Medicinal plants decoctions
Replace the pharmacy rinse with water tinctures. Natural compounds quickly deteriorate, so once every 2-3 days, instead of the old portion of the broth, a new one is prepared. Rinsing the mouth with water tinctures is recommended after morning and evening brushing, each snack and the use of sugary drinks like tea or soda.
Oak bark for stomatitis
Pour 400-500 ml of water into an enameled pan, pour 2 tbsp. l with a hill of oak bark. Bring to a boil over high heat, and then switch the stove to moderate mode. Stir occasionally so that the dry ingredient does not stick to the bottom of the pan. Remove the container with the decoction when about half of the liquid has evaporated.

Another composition can be strengthened: take 2 parts of dried linden flowers for 2 parts of oak bark. Mix, crush in a mortar or grind to get a homogeneous powder. Brew a teaspoon of the mixture in a glass of boiling water. Insist 3-4 hours to make the broth warm. Strained herbal infusion rinse the oral cavity three times a day.
Garlic for strong gums
Garlic, like onion, contains antioxidants, ascorbic acid and anti-inflammatory components. Both ingredients disinfect the oral cavity, destroying bacteria, and at the same time replenish the supply of vitamin C, which the body needs for strong immunity and healthy gums.
It is useful to rub your teeth and soft tissues daily with gruel from onions or garlic.Apply softened product to the gums and massage lightly with your fingers to improve blood circulation. After 5-10 minutes, rinse the oral cavity with a herbal decoction or rinse aid.
The procedure is best done in the evening, brush your teeth before garlic massage. And in order not to frighten those around with an unpleasant smell, in the morning you need to chew several sprigs of parsley or fresh dill, which also have a lot of ascorbic acid.
Broth for fresh breath
You need chopped mint, you can take a few dry or green twigs with leaves, and sage. Mix herbs in equal proportions, pour into a glass jar. Brew 50-60 g of the product daily in 250 ml of boiling water. Pour the herbs with liquid, cover with a saucer or a lid, wait 20 minutes. If there is no time to prepare herbal teas, it is recommended to buy propolis alcohol tincture in a pharmacy and dilute a teaspoon of the product in a glass of warm liquid. Use twice a day after brushing your teeth. Gum can be treated with propolis tincture: apply without diluting, wait 5 minutes, rinse with plain water. Try not to swallow the product, but spit all the saliva that will be secreted into the sink.
Recipe with burdock and aloe
There are two options for a medicinal decoction of burdock. To prepare the first remedy, I use fresh leaves of the plant, which are chopped into large pieces and poured with boiling water. Put the pot with the future broth for 3 minutes on the stove, turning on a moderate fire. It remains to insist and strain.
Dry burdock flowers do not need to boil. It is enough to pour a teaspoon of the plant with a glass of hot water. The present remedy is filtered and applied three times a day.
If there is aloe in the house, you can try to strengthen the gums with this flower:
- Choose one of the largest sheets, wipe the dust from it and cut it off.
- Wrap in a plastic bag, put in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
- Grind the workpiece, pour the gruel from the aloe into an enameled pan.
- Add 50-100 ml of water so that the mass becomes liquid.
- Leave for an hour, then bring to a boil over low heat.
Separate the liquid from the cake, dilute with warm water and rinse.
Recipes with salt for gingivitis and stomatitis
Sea salt protects teeth from plaque and deposits of stones, disinfects gums and prevents bleeding and inflammation. You can use the usual cook variety, but the first option is more effective.
The rinse salt solution is prepared in several ways:
- Dissolve a teaspoon of the ingredient in a glass of warm liquid.
- Combine 200 ml of water with 40 g of linden honey, buckwheat is also suitable. Add 20 g of fine-grained sea salt.
- Add 3-4 drops of iodine to the first solution.
Fine-grained salt is also used to massage gums. Mix with honey to make a thick paste, and rub the product with gentle movements. You can not press hard so as not to injure the gums. Do honey-salt massage before bedtime, and then thoroughly wash the rest of the product with water.
Alcohol recipes and juices
The tincture of St. John's wort has strengthening properties. Pour a spoonful of chopped herbs in a liter jar, add 500 ml of vodka. Apply tincture three or four times a day, diluting in a glass of warm water with 30-40 drops.

Freshly squeezed sorrel juice also has antiseptic properties. Take a part of the ingredient and 3 parts of warm water. Sorrel juice is quite acidic and can destroy tooth enamel. To prevent this, the oral cavity after the procedure must be thoroughly rinsed with plain water without additives.
Strong gum diet
Prevention and treatment of gingivitis and stomatitis begins with nutrition. If the first symptoms of inflammation appear, you should consume a lot:
- citrus fruits;
- seafood, fish or seaweed;
- greens and nuts;
- cheeses and dairy products.
Tip: If the gums weakened due to pregnancy, a woman should buy a vitamin complex. “Vitrum-prenatal”, “Sana-Sol Pregna”, “Elevit” or “AlfaVit Mama” will do. Be sure to coordinate the intake of vitamins with a gynecologist who monitors the course of pregnancy.
Alternative methods of strengthening the gums give a positive result with regular use, when the oral cavity is not much launched. In other cases, you can’t do without a visit to the dentist, who will help you choose disinfectant toothpastes and rinses, special gels or even antibiotics if the usual remedies can not cope with inflammation and bleeding.
