A wig is an excellent invention in the field of the beauty industry. He helps girls transform in a matter of minutes from a brown-haired woman to a platinum blonde or from a brunette to a red beast. At the same time, natural hair is not exposed to high temperatures or ammonia dyes. However, for artificial hair to serve for a long time, it is necessary to follow the basic recommendations for caring for it. It is easy to notice when the wig loses its former appearance, the surface of the hair dims and loses its splendor.
How to wash a wig made of artificial hair
To correctly determine the frequency of washing, you need to proceed from a number of factors. Artificial hair needs regular cleaning if the wig is worn too often.
Also of no small importance is the place of wearing. If you put on a wig and wear it indoors, it will not get dirty as quickly as when used outdoors.
The same applies to the length of the hair, the shorter the strands, the less often they need to be washed. As for the negative factors, the exposure of artificial hair to excessive moisture leads to their early pollution.
Hair stylists advise to conduct water procedures after about 8-10 uses. In this case, it is strongly not recommended to use synthetic cleaners. The structure of natural and artificial hair is significantly different, as a result of which the features of care change. Prefer a series of shampoos and conditioners designed specifically for wigs.
- Before the procedure, you must first boil the water or use filtered, also suitable water in bottles or from natural sources. Add to it 30 gr. baking soda and wait until the granules dissolve, completely cool the solution.
- Pour the liquid into the basin, start gently pouring 45 ml. shampoo. Stir the composition with your hands until foam forms.
- Place the wig in the water, wait 10-15 minutes. After the expiration of the period, begin to gently rinse the wig, without pulling the strands or rubbing it with your hands.
- To remove makeup stains from the surface of the wig (lipstick, foundation, blush, etc.), it is necessary to treat the stained area with a medium hard toothbrush.
- After the wig is completely clean, repeat the procedure. Re-prepare the solution from soda with the addition of shampoo and soak the artificial hair for another 5 minutes.
- After that, take it out of the water, squeeze it out a little and rinse the curls with cold filtered water.
- Take a large terry towel, fold it in half and lay on a flat surface. Place a wig on top and wait a quarter of an hour.
- Spread the hair over the grooming spray or wig serum that does not require rinsing.
- At this stage, you can send your hair to dry. For these purposes, use a stand in the shape of a head, if not, take an ordinary glass jar of the right size. Dry artificial strands only in the fresh air, avoid direct sunlight and strong winds. Never use a hairdryer or other thermal appliances. The full drying time of the wig is 6-8 hours, in some cases longer.
- After the hair is dry, take the wig in your hands and shake it well to return to its previous shape. If you want to create a styling, do it without the help of a comb and massage brush. Give the strands a direction with your hands, it is allowed to apply a little mousse for styling on the ends.
How to comb a wig of artificial hair
After complete drying, the hair should be combed properly.Perform the procedure not only after washing your hair, but also after each use. Such a move will prevent possible tangling and the appearance of warlocks.
- Take a flat comb with wide teeth, which are located at a distance of 0.4-0.6 cm from each other.
- Squeeze the lower rows of the wig in your hand so that you do not pull the hair out during combing. Comb the entire lower section well, starting at the ends.
- Then proceed to the upper rows. To make it easier, you can divide the hair into parts, treating each of them in turn.
- In cases where the wig cannot be combed, use a professional spray to facilitate the procedure. Then gently separate the strands with your hands.
- If you find tangled hairs that finally form a knot, use thin manicure scissors. Cut the beam a little and try to untangle it.
- After completing, put the wig on your head and comb it gently again, giving it the necessary shape.
How to store a wig made of artificial hair
- Get a special wig net that keeps its shape and makes storage easy. If the wig has long hair, it is necessary to pull it into a tight tail, and then curl it up. Only then can you put on the net. Do not tighten the bundle if the wig does not require such storage.
- For long-term preservation of artificial hair, they must be kept in a well-ventilated area. Do not hide the wig in a closed cabinet, it is better to put it on top of a high mirror or chest of drawers.
- Refuse to store the wig on the window and near direct exposure to ultraviolet radiation. No need to pack a wig in a plastic bag in the hope that dust will not get on it. For these purposes, cover the man-made attribute with a light scarf or veil.
