Blood on a mattress is an unpleasant discovery for many housewives. When preparing the bed for sleep, the stain catches the eye and looks unaesthetic. The problem becomes especially urgent at the moment when it is noticed by guests who have arrived for the night. To avoid embarrassing situations and maintain the bed in good condition, you must have basic knowledge of care. We have collected for you an effective collection of folk recipes that do not require much time and effort. Consider the current ways to get rid of blood stains.
Preparing the mattress for cleaning
Before proceeding with the procedure, you need to prepare the product. Here is a step-by-step instruction.
- To get started, you need to blot the place of contamination with a dense cloth. Take a terry towel, soak it in ice water, press it to the stain. You can not use hot water, because it promotes the penetration of blood deep into the structure of the fibers.
- After wet processing, blot the surface with a dry rag, it will absorb liquid along with soaked blood. You do not need to rub the mattress strongly, otherwise the blood trail will spread to a large area. Your movements should be driving.
- Then again moisten the clean area of the towel with water, repeat the previous procedures. Complete the procedure when the contact area on the fabric remains clean after getting wet with a dry cloth.
Important!
Preparation of the mattress is needed in cases where the blood stain is relatively fresh. In other cases, the manipulations proposed above will be useless, since the dried trace is resistant to water.
Effective ways to remove blood stains from the mattress
Ammonia
Each subsequent time you must move towards the middle, thereby preventing the spread of the trail. If the pollution is out of date, do not rush to get it wet with a rag, soak this part of the mattress in ammonia solution for 10-15 minutes. It is convenient to complete the cleaning with a vacuum cleaner and natural drying.
Brine
The final composition acts on the principle of ice, but at times more effective. Pour 55-60 g. chopped edible salt in 250 ml. warm water, stir until the granules are completely dissolved. Next, pour the resulting solution into a bottle with a dispenser-sprayer. Before applying the composition, make sure that the liquid is not warm. For better cooling, place the container in the refrigerator for 40-60 minutes.
Proceed to spot removal. Spray the product along the edge of the bloody trail, leave it for 10 minutes, pat it with a towel in the direction of the center. Gradually move towards the middle of the dirt, collect the remaining blood with a dry, clean cloth. Repeat simple steps until the track disappears completely. As in the previous method, collect moisture first with a dry towel, then with a vacuum cleaner.
Laundry soap
The product is considered to be universal and most effective. It is allowed to use laundry and tar soap with a concentration of 60 to 75%. Due to its alkaline composition, the product easily dissolves blood proteins, wine, rust and other complex contaminants.
Wipe the bloody trail with ice cubes, rub with a bar of soap, place a cling film on top and wait 1 hour. At the end of the period, treat the area of contamination with a toothbrush, pat it with a wet cloth.Collect moisture with a dry cloth, use a vacuum cleaner to prevent mold.
Hydrogen peroxide solution
The composition is convenient to use due to the bottle with a narrow tip. If desired, you can replace the drug "Chlorhexidine" with a concentration of 3-6%. Pour a small amount of peroxide on the stain, immediately blot the trace with a bath towel. Begin processing from the edges of the dirt to prevent the stain from spreading. Do not hesitate, otherwise the peroxide will penetrate deep into the cavity of the mattress.
It is permissible to use the drug in combination with a cotton pad. To do this, it is enough to apply the composition to the cosmetic sponge and carefully wipe it with a trace. The procedure ends with the use of a vacuum cleaner to remove excess fluid.
Baking soda
Prepare a homogeneous mass of baking soda and chopped sea salt, mixing both components in a 2: 1 ratio. Pour the loose mixture with water so that you get a paste-like composition. After all the manipulations, moisten a blood stain with cold water in small quantities, distribute the mass of soda and salt on the surface of the contamination.
Start rubbing the product with your fingers, try not to go into a clean area. The exposure time ranges from 30 to 60 minutes, it all depends on the degree of pollution and its old age. After the deadline, remove the excess with a paper towel, rub the area with a toothbrush, and rinse with cold water. Vacuum the stain, send the mattress to dry in fresh air.
Ice and Dishwashing Liquid
Blood contains protein, which coagulates from exposure to hot water. Therefore, traces of such a plan must be deduced exclusively by a cold cycle, for example, ice.
To prepare the composition, use the following scheme: pour boiling water over 45-50 g. Chamomile officinalis or sage, cover, wait a quarter of an hour. After the time has passed, pass the solution through the filter from cotton wool and gauze, fill in forms, send to the freezer.
Next, wipe the place of pollution with ice cubes, then immediately drop a thick consistency gel on the dishwashing gel. Rub with a medium hard toothbrush, then pat the stained area with a towel dampened in cold water.
Repeat manipulations until the stain completely disappears. As soon as this happens, wipe the treated area with a damp, unpainted cloth, then collect excess moisture with a vacuum cleaner.
Lemon acid
The composition is considered highly concentrated, so he can even cope with persistent spots. Prepare the slurry from two bags of citric acid and 20 ml. purified ice water, distribute the resulting mass to the place of contamination, wait about a quarter of an hour.
Scrub the stain area with a toothbrush, and remove any residue with a paper towel. Wash the treated area with cold water, repeat the procedure again if the situation requires it. After cleaning, vacuum the mattress, blow dry it with a hairdryer.
You can also use lemon, but it is less effective in dealing with complex traces. Squeeze the juice from two fruits, soak a cotton swab in the resulting liquid, wipe the bloody trail, starting from the edge. Wait about half an hour, do not let the composition dry. Wet the mattress again each time and pat it dry with a bath towel.
Potato starch
Both potato and corn starch are allowed. Mix 3 sachets of the product with purified water, moisten the stain with ice cubes, then apply the resulting slurry. Rub the mass into a bloody trail, wait for partial drying (about 20-30 minutes).
After this time, collect the excess and rub the stain with a toothbrush. Evaluate the result, if it did not please you, repeat the procedure again. However, this time, plant starch not with water, but with cold lemon juice. After cleaning the product, treat the mattress with a wet towel, then pat it with a dry cloth to collect moisture.
Sea salt
The product absorbs blood and other contaminants, but the procedure must be carried out several times. To achieve the best effect, moisten the stain with cold water and rub with a toothbrush before applying the composition. Complete the procedure by blotting with a dry towel and vacuuming.
Liquid glycerin and chalk
The product is able to cope with blood stains in a short time, but it must be applied only when cold. Proceed as follows: uncork the bottle, put it in the refrigerator for 15 minutes. After the time has passed, spread a thin layer of glycerin onto the stain, wait half an hour and rub it with a toothbrush.
Then blot with a clean towel, repeat the procedure a few more times. When the pollution becomes faded, treat it with ammonia, sprinkle with crushed chalk, press on top with a cloth. Wait about 20 minutes for the bulk composition to absorb moisture. Shake off the remains of the substance, vacuum the mattress.
Blood stains are rightfully considered complex contaminants, but this does not mean that they can not be removed. If possible, carry out a preliminary test before using the composition on the main contamination. Watch the exposure time, do not violate the proportions. As effective methods for removing traces of this kind, use ammonia, ice, hydrogen peroxide, glycerin, laundry soap, salt and sea salt, soda, citric acid.
