Melanogaster refers to a mushroom that is classified as rare and inedible. Representatives of the family prefer to grow in splendid isolation. Fruiting begins in the middle or end of May, lasts until October. This variety of fruiting bodies loves larch, in which hornbeams or oaks prevail. In today's article, we will study everything that affects the variety under discussion, and also consider the mushrooms that melanogaster resembles. That is truffles.

  1. Otherwise, the presented variety of fruiting bodies is called a false truffle. The thing is that it looks like an edible species of expensive mushrooms. But by its type, melanogaster is not subject to consumption in food. By the smell, these fruit bodies are quite pleasant, give away with fruits or wild berries.
  2. The structure of the fungus, like a tuber, that is, spherical. The glomeruli can reach a diameter of about 2 cm, but often there are specimens of 1.5 cm each. At the base of the fruiting body there are screeds pigmented in a brown tone.
  3. In young animals, the peridium is painted in a brown-yellow or beige-brown pigment. Over the course of the life cycle, that is, in mature specimens, the shade changes and becomes darker. He has a felt or naked type.
  4. As for gleb, it is gelatinous and compacted. Initially goes brownish, and then becomes black-brown. The basis includes round-shaped cameras, located in large numbers. They are filled with a semi-liquid substance, like jelly, which glistens and gives off in black. The layers may be black or so, as well as whitish and yellowish.
  5. Now we will study the subtleties of the growth of this tuberous form. They prefer to live on the bedding and in the ground. Instances like larch, especially oaks and hornbeams. Look for specimens from the end of spring to the middle of autumn. The habitat is carried out in larches with hornbeams and oaks.
  2. The mushroom is tuberous, like a ball, in diameter up to 4 cm. Initially pigmented brownish, later becoming black or so. In young animals, the surface is felt; in the grown up representatives, it is smooth. It tastes nice, edible. Gleb is pigmented in black and blue, does not break down into powder mass.
  3. Fruit bodies mainly grow on soil in deciduous and pine forests. Especially specimens are found in hornbeam and oak. It is impossible to say exactly, but mushroom pickers suggest that such fruits form mycorrhiza with various trees, under which they actually grow.
  4. Fruiting fruiting bodies begin from mid-spring and up to the first frosts. You can meet copies in the European part of Russia. It is also assumed that such a mushroom is cosmopolitan.
  5. In addition to Europe itself, the specimens discussed are often found in India, North and South America, New Zealand.Such a mushroom does not differ in high taste, but from it you can cook many first and second courses.

Similarity

  1. Presented fruit bodies are very similar to truffles, hence the second name appeared. As for edible specimens, among them it is worth noting a white (Italian) truffle. Such a fruiting body is a delicacy in northern Italy.
  2. Sizes of white truffles can be from 2 to 12 cm. In this case, the mass can reach up to 0.3 kg. The delicacy has an uneven surface. The skin is velvety and painted with a gray-ocher or brown color. The pulp has a dense structure. It is painted in whitish or yellow-gray.
  3. When cut, the white truffle has a marbled pattern on the pulp. The taste and aroma can be compared with garlic and cheese. Real truffles form mycorrhiza with poplars, willows, lindens and oaks. Mushrooms tend to grow in deciduous forests.

Melanogaster is a rather interesting fruiting body. Such a mushroom looks like an edible truffle, which is an expensive delicacy. The specimen in question is not edible.
