Is marmalade suitable for breastfeeding?

The appearance in the family of a child is undoubtedly a joyful event. But this joy always comes with additional worries. Among the important matters, feeding a baby comes to the fore. And, if experienced mothers know almost all of the “pitfalls” of the diet during natural feeding, young women are not familiar with many of the nuances. Therefore, they need lucid information about products that are allowed to be consumed and those that are strictly forbidden to eat.

Marmalade for breastfeeding

Particularly stringent requirements are placed on the diet of a nursing mother. This is caused by the fact that any, even insignificant, malnutrition, can provoke the development of allergies, intestinal disorders and other ailments in the baby. But, at the same time, a breast-feeding woman needs a complex of vitamins, minerals and even sweets. Many nutritionists recommend marmalade as the safest sweet product.

What is the use of marmalade

Any product is useful when it has a natural base. If a nursing mother will consume marmalade of excellent quality in small portions, then her body will receive additional support. Diet treats will not harm the baby either. Indeed, in a jelly product, which is usually prepared from natural juices, there are few calories, but there are a lot of useful components:

  1. Pectin. This substance helps to cleanse the body, improves intestinal motility.
  2. Gelatin or agar-agar, which are used in the production of dessert to give it a jelly-like consistency, is also saturated with useful components.
  3. Marmalade contains a lot of ascorbic acid and such an element necessary for blood as iron.
  4. Marmalade contains organic acids that affect many biochemical processes that occur in the body.

It should be noted that here we are only talking about natural types of marmalade dessert, because they can have a beneficial effect on the body of a woman and a child. Products obtained from artificial environments with the addition of flavorings and other synthetics should not even appear occasionally on the menu of a nursing woman.

Safety precautions

And now a little about how and when it is allowed to eat marmalade. Three rules should be followed here.

  1. Quality. Nutritionists who specialize in breastfeeding recommend preparing dessert on their own. This is the best variant. But, if this is not possible, then when choosing a product you need to carefully study the information on its packaging. Typically, products of a category such as marmalade are labeled with a GOST mark. After studying the label, you can find out about the quality of the product. Of course, not all manufacturers are honest with the customer. Some simply “forget” to indicate harmful additives on the packaging. Their oversight often turns into an allergy in a child or intestinal colic. Therefore, when choosing a product, preference should be given to the product in natural shades. There are only three of them - this is yellow, red, green. Other vivid color options only emphasize the presence of synthetic dyes in marmalade.
  2. The optimal dosage. Another important rule: you must always remember the measure. Indeed, even a useful product can cause serious damage to health if abused. The use of goodies is allowed only in minimal quantities. The daily portion of a nursing mother should not exceed 50 grams.
  3. The time of the introduction of marmalade dessert. Any sweets can appear on the menu of a nursing mother no earlier than three months after the birth of the baby. You need to start with minimal amounts and be sure to observe the condition of the baby for several days. If there are no deviations, you can gradually increase the portion.

Recipe for self-cooking marmalade

Many women prefer to cook desserts for themselves at home. Such a decision will help to minimize all risks. With the proper organization of the process, the preparation of marmalade will not take much time. And the products that are required are most often found in every kitchen.

So, for a tasty and healthy marmalade you will need any fruit or berry puree. To prepare it, you need to take:

  • any natural juice - 300 g;
  • gelatin - 50 g;
  • sugar - 400 g.

First you need to dissolve the gelatin in water. The fruit juice that is available must be brought to a boil, then pour all the sugar into it, and only then carefully add the diluted gelatin. The resulting mixture is held on a weak window for another ten minutes. When the mass has cooled slightly, you can pour it into pre-cooked molds. Before serving, the cooled dessert is sprinkled with powdered sugar and cut.

Homemade marmalade almost never causes allergies. In all respects, this is a pleasant and useful product that will help each mother make a sweet touch in everyday life.
