Cultivation Features
In order to achieve the highest possible yield, cucumbers are recommended to be grown in seedlings. To begin sowing seeds for seedlings should be in late February or early March.
- The first step is to prepare the seed material. For disinfection, a weak manganese solution is used. Separate containers are recommended. You can take empty packs of yogurt or disposable cups. Soil can be purchased in a specialized store, or you can cook it yourself.
- Humus or peat should be added to garden soil. When using peat glasses for seedlings, peat is not necessary. Seeds are laid to a depth of 1-2 cm.
- Crops require daily watering, air temperature of about +25 degrees and loosening of the soil after emergence. Planting should be done in compliance with the distance between adjacent bushes. Experts recommend leaving 50 cm of free space.
The seedless method also involves the preliminary preparation of seeds. The landing site should be in a well-lit place, without drafts and protected from gusts of wind. The earth should be well warmed up to +15 degrees. Seeds are deepened into the soil by 3-4 cm. After planting, the crops are covered with film material. This will protect them from possible night frosts. In the neighborhood, it is recommended to grow onions or garlic. These plants have a repelling effect from pests.
Important! Cucumbers are recommended to be planted in places where potatoes, onions or tomatoes were previously grown.
Care Rules
Cucumbers are a moisture-loving vegetable crop. It is recommended to water the bushes with warm water so as not to overcool the root system of plants. Watering should be done after sunset. For cucumbers, drip irrigation is the best option. After watering, you need to loosen the earth. This will avoid the appearance of soil crust, and enrich the earth with oxygen. Destroying weeds will help reduce the risk of fungal infection. In addition, weeds extract useful nutrients from the soil, which are so necessary for the growth and development of cucumbers.
Several times during the summer, cucumbers must be fed with mineral complex additives. This is especially important to do during flowering and during the period of active fruiting of plants. Despite persistent immunity from pests and diseases, with improper care, bushes can be affected by powdery mildew or mosaic. For prevention, plants are treated with insecticidal drugs. Many experienced vegetable growers use proven and effective folk recipes for this.
Subject to the rules for the care, formation, planting of plants, you can get the highest possible yield of quality cucumbers. Variety Sister Alyonushka is appreciated by gardeners for their unpretentiousness in care, excellent taste, as well as versatility in use.
Reviews gardeners
- Grigory V., 51 years old: I have been cultivating the Sister Alyonushka variety for several years. I liked this variety for its appearance and excellent cucumber taste. The fruits are juicy, crispy. Even in marinated form do not lose their taste. The care for the variety is ordinary, the same as for other varieties of cucumbers. If you form plants in 1 stalk, then the harvest will be richer. I want to advise everyone this wonderful variety.
- Elvira Zinovievna, 47 years old: Planted this variety for the first time last year. Loved the cucumbers. All the cucumbers are small, ripen together, not bitter. There are no voids in the fruits. Ideal for pickling. I grow cucumbers in the greenhouse, I prefer to tie the lashes to the trellis. This has a very beneficial effect on increasing yields. I try to add top dressing only during the fruiting period. It was at this time that plants spend a lot of energy on the development of fruits.
- Oleg Sergeevich, 38 years old: Grade Sister Alyonushka I liked all the characteristics. Great yield. Quality cucumbers are suitable for harvesting. Watering and loosening is necessary constantly, and top dressing is done occasionally.
