Sweet pepper Aphrodite - a breeding plant of medium early maturation, bred by Czech breeders. The period from the first sprouts to the harvest is approximately 110 - 115 days. This variety has high productivity, good germination and is resistant to many parasitic diseases and verticillosis. The bushes have an average height of 60 - 85 cm (half-stem), the stalk is strong.
Fruit Description
The fruits of Aphrodite pepper are large, weighing up to 230 grams, cuboid in shape. The pulp is fleshy, juicy, sweet and aromatic. Wall thickness 0.7 - 1 cm. The peel is thin, smooth. During ripening, the fruits have a light green color, and in ripe form - orange.
When grown in open ground, the yield is 8 - 9 kg per 1 m2 of sowing. Due to its palatability, pepper is ideal for fresh consumption. It can also be used for a wide variety of cooking methods. The fruits are well preserved without losing their presentable appearance.
Sowing and nurturing
This variety is suitable for growing in greenhouses, hotbeds, film or glass shelters, as well as in open ground, through seedlings. Sowing seeds for seedlings is approximately carried out in early February or 80 days before planting in open ground. Each seed is planted to a depth of 1.5 centimeters, in specially prepared soil for seedlings. Seedlings can be grown in wooden crates, plastic pots, or in special peat capsules.
The temperature when growing seedlings should be at least + 26 °, since Aphrodite pepper does not like cold. After the first shoots appear, it is necessary to ensure good illumination of the room. If there is not enough natural light, it is recommended that plants be illuminated.
When the seedlings get stronger and begin to form growing leaves, the room temperature is gradually reduced, daily by 1 ° C, lowering it to + 16 ° C. This is necessary to accustom the plant to cold before planting in open ground.
Disembarkation and care
In late April, when the threat of night frost completely disappears, seedlings can be planted in a permanent place in open ground. If cultivation is provided in a greenhouse or a greenhouse, seedlings can be planted already in late April. On one m2 it is recommended to plant no more than four plants. The minimum distance between them is 25 cm, if it is a greenhouse - 35 cm, since in a closed building the plants will be larger and will bear more fruit. The distance between the beds is 40 cm in open ground and 50 cm in the greenhouse.
Variety Aphrodite is very demanding on soil fertility. If you plan to grow this crop on your site, experts recommend starting preparing it in the fall. Rotted manure is brought into the well-dug and spread soil. This procedure is repeated a month and a half before transplanting. For cultivation, choose open and sunny places. Preferred is the soil on which legumes, cucumbers or cabbage were previously grown.
To achieve maximum offspring throughout the growing season, it is recommended that organic and mineral fertilizers (nitrate, urea, phosphate) be applied to the soil, about once every 20 days. Watering is carried out every 4 days. Once every 10 days it is necessary to fluff up the soil and remove weeds.
