Growing seedlings
The optimal time for sowing seeds is the second half of March. Seeds are pressed to the soil and sprinkled on top with a thin layer of soil. After the appearance of 3 leaves, you can transplant the seedlings with the earth from the pot into another container.
- When choosing a container, you need to take into account the size and provide for the possibility of adding soil in the process of seedling growth.
- Glasses with planted seeds should be covered with foil and put in a warm, dark place.
- Two months after planting seeds in the soil, seedlings should be in open ground or in a greenhouse. When transplanting seedlings, they try to immerse the plant in the soil along the very leaves. If this fails, additionally add soil, moisturizing it.
- Well seedlings of bell pepper succeed in five-liter containers from under drinking water.
In phase 3-4 of these leaves, peppers are dived into separate pots or glasses. Seedlings need room. You can’t grow plants for a long time in one container, they will soon begin to compete for nutrients and sunlight, seedlings can stretch out and turn yellow.
Plant care
Seedlings are planted at the age of 30-50 days in open ground or greenhouses after May 20, when the threat of frost passes.
- Fertilizing with complex fertilizers is carried out from May to August - 1 time in 20 days. During the formation of buds, an extract from pine shoots stimulates the formation of ovaries and promotes faster ripening of fruits.
- Before flowering and during flowering, stepsons are torn off so that nutrients are not taken from the bush.
- Water the bell pepper in the morning and evening until the temperature of water and air has evened out. Be sure to remove the extra stepchildren, especially on the lower tiers.
- Bulgarian pepper is responsive to top dressing with organic fertilizers. It is fed with a solution prepared from mullein, complex fertilizers are added (1 tablespoon), potassium permanganate 1 g.
- During the bud budding period, treat the plantings with a 5% urea solution. The bushes are also sprayed with special biological stimulating agents, for example: zircon.
Failures with the cultivation of bell pepper are mainly associated with improper temperature conditions. With proper care and favorable weather conditions, the crop can be harvested until late autumn.
