Sweet chocolate is an exotic variety of bell pepper with glossy brown fruits. The variety is medium early, harvesting can be done on 120 days from the moment of transplanting seedlings in open ground. This crop is famous for its high yields. The variety owes its origin to Siberian breeders. The plant is ideal for both growing in open ground and in greenhouse conditions.
Grade description
The bush is compact, low, up to 90 cm, the foliage is dark green. Fruits of a cuboid shape, when ripe, acquire a chocolate-glossy hue. The pulp is fleshy and sweet. With proper agricultural technology, the fruits reach a mass of 150 g. Pepper can be consumed fresh, and also used for conservation, for stuffing.
A distinctive feature of this grade is a long shelf life, resistance to transportation over long distances.
Growing
First you need to make a selection of seeds. To do this, they are poured with a glass of water. Those seeds that come up can be considered a marriage. After this, it is necessary to carry out the procedure of hardening seeds. They must be placed for fifteen minutes in a non-concentrated solution of potassium permanganate. This technique will help to further reduce the risk of fungal diseases. After that, the seeds are placed on wet gauze and left until completely swollen.
When growing pepper seedlings, use peat pots. It is important that the pots are small in volume, as the root system in pepper develops rather slowly. When sowing, do not deepen the seeds too much into the soil.
After the appearance of three true leaves, it is necessary to make a pick. Do not leave plants in the same container. Seedlings grown in a thickened way, get elongated, frail and unviable. Such plants tolerate transplantation extremely poorly, are ill for a long time, subsequently yield a meager harvest.
Beginners in growing seedlings make the same common mistake. They begin to grow seedlings too early in February, or even in January, when daylight hours are still too short. In such cases, plants need additional lighting. Seedlings without illumination will be frail, yellow.
Seedling cultivation begins 65 days before the expected moment of planting in open ground. When planting, take into account the fact that pepper has a very negative attitude towards the wind, for this reason it is necessary to select the most protected areas from it for growing it.
If the cultivation will be carried out on poor soils, then the pepper will require regular feeding with organic fertilizers.
You can make herbal infusion for plant nutrition. To do this, pour hay into the barrel and fill it with warm water. All this must be left for two weeks for fermentation. After this infusion, pepper is watered under the root at least once a week.
Care
An important component of care is watering. Pepper does not tolerate drought, but also does not favor excessive watering.
It is necessary to ensure that the soil does not dry out, but do not overdo it with watering, otherwise there is a risk of fungal diseases and decay of the plant.
Pasynkovka can be carried out no more than seven times in ten days, for one approach you can not remove more than three shoots.
The soil should be structured, nutritious. With proper care from one square meter, you can collect up to six kilograms of product.
