Golden Taurus - a variety of sweet yellow and orange peppers, characterized by a stable harvest. Mostly grown in temperate climates. Juicy, sweet, it goes well in fresh food, in heat treatment and for cooking for the winter.
Grade Features
The color of the fruits of the Golden Calf varies from bright yellow glossy to orange with full ripening. Pepper is rich in many minerals and vitamins, it includes:
- Vitamin C, which strengthens the body from colds;
- carotene, supporting visual acuity;
- potassium, necessary for the normal functioning of the whole organism;
- endorphin is a hormone of happiness and joy.
The shape of the fruit is cuboid, the wall thickness is 1 cm. This led to its widespread use in cooking in stuffing, it will not fall apart when exposed to heat. Fresh pepper well affects the work of the heart muscle and nervous system, strengthening them.
The main agrotechnical characteristics of the culture:
- By the rate of ripening, the plant belongs to the mid-early variety.
- From one bush it is possible to harvest from 1.5 kg of fruit in open ground up to 2 kg in greenhouse conditions.
- Ovaries form a bouquet type.
- It gives a good crop in any growing conditions - both in open ground and in closed.
- The plant is a semi-spreading bush, the height of which reaches up to 70 cm.
- The foliage is small, the leaves are dark green in color, wrinkled.
- Each fruit is large, fleshy, weighing up to 160 grams.
- 2-3 peppers grow on one branch, up to 15 pieces on one plant.
- High-yielding variety, from one square. square meters you can collect up to 9 kg of fruit.
Advantages and disadvantages of culture
Among the positive aspects of growing Golden Taurus pepper varieties, the following can be distinguished:
- high yielding capacity;
- cold resistance;
- undemanding.
Among the negative aspects, only susceptibility to late blight and the effects of viruses can be noted. To enhance the plant's resistance to disease, it is treated with special drugs.
Growing technology
The golden calf is grown in seedlings. Seedlings are planted 60 days before transplanting to places of constant growth. The optimum temperature for seed germination is +28 degrees. When the first leaves appear on seedlings, they are transplanted into separate small containers - cups.
The main stages of the growing process:
- Transplanting young plants to places where they will constantly grow. In open ground, seedlings are planted at the end of the frost, when the frost has not finally returned. In greenhouse and greenhouse conditions, this period falls in the spring: late April - early May. The plant does not like the transplant procedure and may temporarily stop growing.
- Planting is carried out in two rows with a distance between them of about 50 cm. From one plant to another, the distance is maintained at 45 cm. Plant roots do not need to be deepened, they rarely give lateral shoots. The depth of the pit is equal to the depth at which the seedling grew in a glass.
- Preparation of collections for future bushes. They grow powerful, but under the weight of a large number of ripened large fruits can bend to the ground.
- The formation of a bush by removing stepsons up to the first fork.
- Thinning ovaries. To get large-sized fruits, no more than two ovaries are left in one bunch.
- Peppers are harvested when they become greenish yellow to ripe orange.
- Before flowering, plants are treated with infusion of garlic or a special remedy Fitosporin. This will prevent the possibility of their disease.
Bell peppers of this variety, according to gardeners, proved to be an unpretentious vegetable crop with a high level of yield. Pepper is not difficult to grow and care, it is enough to follow simple agricultural rules and take preventive measures to prevent the development of diseases to which the plant is exposed.
For more than 10 years, Golden calf pepper has been grown by summer residents and gardeners in Russia. In open ground, these are mainly lands located in Siberia or in the European part of Russia (in its middle lane). In the suburbs and the Leningrad region, the culture is grown in closed conditions: greenhouses or greenhouses. Pepper remains in demand and popular along with the new varieties and hybrids offered.
