Cats, unlike dogs, are considered freedom-loving, proud and wayward pets that will not jump around the owner who has come home for joy. But at the same time, cats are the personification of peaceful tenderness, love and affection. The cat shows its feelings in its own way - softly and unobtrusively. All lovers of these gentle creatures know how cats love to sleep on a person - on his knees, arms, back, stomach. But why does a cat sleep on a person? Why does he prefer to purr and carefully crush him with his paws?
Why does a cat like to sleep on a person?
Cats, like humans, have a different character. Some savages very rarely approach a person, preferring to sleep at a distance. But most often there are very affectionate cats that constantly fall on their arms and legs, rub their chins and in every possible way show their attitude to the owner. And as soon as a person sits down or lies down, a cat sits down instantly next to or directly from above to enjoy the invisible touch of purring. But why are cats so fond of sleeping on their knees and arms?
- Heat. Cats are very thermophilic creatures who love to bask in the sun, even on a hot summer day. These animals with the first rays of the sun are conveniently located on the windowsill to soak up the heat. And in winter, when the temperature drops, cats can easily find heat sources - radiators, batteries and heaters, where they spend most of their time. That is why for a cat, a person is a warm living creature that you can snuggle into. And to sleep on such a “heated pillow” is the highest point of bliss.
- Weasel and love. As you know, we are responsible for those who have tamed, so if you have a cat, you should devote more time to it. Very often, the owners spend all day at work, come home only in the evening, of course, the cat will miss and miss. She shows her attitude to the owner in every possible way - she rubs against her arms and legs, licks her fingers, purrs. To make up for the lack of love and affection, you need to spend more time with your darling, let her sleep next to him, stroke the animal and gently talk to him. If this is not done, the cat may become homesick and even fall ill. And especially wayward pets can even begin to take revenge and cheat.
- Softness. Another reason why a cat likes to sleep on a person is that she is just soft. These animals appreciate the good conditions for sleeping, which is why the cat likes to relax on linen dressers, on the bed, in a pile of clothes. Human skin is not just soft, but also warm, ideal for sleeping and relaxing.
- Security. Any pet that appears in a new house is very afraid, especially if other animals, older and more experienced, live with it in this house. Of course, the kitten will experience fear and anxiety. But as soon as he realizes that the owner is peace and security, he will try his best to be near him. Do not refuse the baby in this simple need to be around. As soon as the cat is a little comfortable in the new house, the habit can pass without a trace.
- Heart beat. We all come from childhood, so we love the beat of the mother’s heart, which we heard in the womb. And kittens, especially small ones, are no exception. If the baby likes to sit on your chest, it means that he is still very small and just not weaned from maternal heat. In addition, the rhythmic tapping perfectly calms and pacifies even the most restless crumbs. As they grow older, most often this habit in kittens passes without a trace.
These are the simplest, but real and quite logical explanations of why a cat likes to sleep on a person. But sometimes the reason does not lie on the surface.
Can a cat treat?
Among the people there is a very widespread belief that a cat has therapeutic properties and certainly lays on painful places that need treatment. Modern doctors find this quite reasonable explanation. For example, if a person has a backache with radiculitis or arthritis, prolonged exposure to heat, combined with the vibration of a cat's purr, perfectly affects the diagnosis. As you know, cats are warm-blooded, their body temperature is slightly higher, so they can be considered a good natural heating pad. After such procedures, pain in the back and joints passes without a trace.
If your pet wants to sleep on your knees or arms, do not refuse her this. After all, for her it is a way to show her love and affection.
