The content of the article
All caring owners are interested in issues regarding the content of their pets. This section also includes socialization, which must be carried out as early as possible so that the puppy gets used to the environment, people and public places, other animals. All dogs are inherently curious, it is unfair to take away from the puppy the opportunity to enjoy the fresh air.
The need for walks for a puppy
It’s worth saying right away that there are no dogs who would not like walks in the fresh air. The pet’s health and the correct functioning of the whole organism directly depend on this.
The dog will fully develop in the physical plane, learn the world, become smarter. Intelligence is an important component not only for a person, but also for a four-legged friend. Through acquaintance with the environment, the puppy grows up, learns to make decisions.
Not all animals feel comfortable on the street, pets who do not pay enough attention to walks face this. Subsequently, the dog grows up cowardly, scared of every rustle, all places outside the house seem unfamiliar to her.
In the process of walking, the owner and the dog begin to better understand each other. The pet is easier to train, can execute commands taking into account the intonation of the owner. Walking is also necessary in order for the dog to disaccustom how to spoil at home.
Optimum age for walking
- Many new owners of animals try to introduce the pet to the outside world as soon as possible. Such a desire deserves praise, but everything has its own subtleties that must be taken into account.
- The most favorable age threshold that calls for going outside is considered to be a puppy reaching 3.5 months. A similar feature is due to the end of vaccination, which is carried out at an early age, and the end of the quarantine period.
- However, there are some nuances. If you took a puppy in warm weather, but some vaccinations have not yet been given, and you want to walk your pet, it is possible. If the dog is only 2 months old, you can take it to fresh air and hold it in your hands.
- Do not allow contact with other pets. Also, do not allow people to stroke the baby, do not lower him on the ground or grass. After vaccination, the body has not grown stronger, the puppy may become ill. Even being in your arms the dog will receive the necessary portion of the sun, feel the light breeze, feel what it feels like to be on the street.
- If you start from the opinions of some breeders, we can conclude that walking is allowed even with a monthly puppy. But this is a dubious theory that they often try to refute. Because this is possible if you know for sure that the puppy's mother has strong immunity. Then the baby will be born the same. But, again, it is better to follow the recommendations of the veterinarian.
Puppy Vaccination
Four-legged patients also require vaccinations, so that the baby grows and gets stronger every day. Since you already learned that it is better to acquaint the baby with the environment after they reach 3.5 months, we advise you to study the necessary vaccinations based on age.
- First, deworming is performed, that is, worms must be removed from the baby's body. 10 days after this, you can go for vaccinations, a veterinary passport for a puppy will be brought on the first visit to the clinic.
- When the baby is 1.5-2 months old, it must be vaccinated against parvovirus enteritis and carnivorous plague. Half a month after the first vaccination, revaccination follows, that is, consolidation of the result.
- The next vaccination is carried out after the pet reaches the age of 6-7 months. By this age, milk teeth should be replaced by indigenous ones. The drug is administered, as with revaccination, a rabies vaccine is added to it.
- After a year or at the moment when the dog turns 12 months old, vaccinate again. Then vaccination is done annually.
- It is important to understand that the effect of this procedure will be maximum only if you have dewormed. The animal must be healthy at the time of going to the doctor. After vaccination, 2 weeks quarantine must be observed.
Socialization
- The newly minted owner should understand that the puppy simply needs to communicate with relatives, preferably of the same age. In no case do not forbid the pet to show interest in other animals, on the contrary, encourage its desire.
- You will also need to carefully select friends for your puppy. Introduce only those animals that the owners look after and monitor their health. If your puppy loses the ability to communicate with relatives, then he will most likely grow up aggressive in relation to all other animals. Or vice versa, the dog will become shy.
- Understand that over time, your pet’s friendly attitude towards other dogs will only play into your hands. In the future, walking your pet will not cause any problems. A dog can be easily let go play and frolic with relatives without any fear.
Rules for walking an unvaccinated puppy
- Puppies about 2 months old are allowed to walk. In this case, special care should be taken. In no case do not allow the pet to contact other animals and pick up anything from the ground. A great option will be the ability to let the puppy run in a private courtyard, where there are no animals and street cats.
- If you suddenly plan to let the puppy out on your own site, before that you need to carefully examine the territory and, if necessary, remove it. Be sure to get rid of various rubbish and carrion. Take care that the dog does not get hurt.
- If you have a large breed puppy, you need to immediately teach it to a leash. With such a dog, it is better to start walking long distances immediately. Again, do not forget to make sure that the dog does not pick up anything from the ground.
- When living in the city, it is highly recommended to walk the puppy in your arms. Letting the dog go is permitted only in safe and verified places. Never let her off the leash.
- Under warm weather, walking with a pet per day is allowed no more than 1 hour. If the weather is rainy or cold, wait for the dog to relieve itself and immediately return home.
In order not to encounter problems of a certain nature when walking, it is not recommended to change the route in the first days. The puppy should get used to the street without stress and remember the way. Do not feed the animal before going to fresh air. Being outdoors should not last too long.
