Owners of small rodents are faced with the fact that the pet, wanting adventure, escapes from the cage on a trip around the apartment. What should people do in such cases: how to find a fugitive before he hurt himself? This will be discussed in our article.

Having discovered that the hamster has successfully set off on a voyage through the expanses of the apartment, start your search immediately. First of all, remove all potential dangers: a mousetrap, if any, a cat and / or a dog.

Close the interior doors carefully, observing whether you are crushing the animal. So it will be possible to look at room after room while searching, and the fugitive will not, as in cartoons, run across to those already explored.

Before an active search, we listen: suddenly the hamster just rushes from place to place, rustling or tapping with something (a lid cap of a pen, for example, a button). The process of capturing the beast simplified at times. But so infrequently lucky, because they are small and secretive when necessary.

Next, we look at the nooks closest to the cage: under the pillows, under the furniture, in cups and boxes, all kinds of gaps. The size of the animal allows you to climb into unexpected places where they can spend a lot of time.

Walking through the open spaces of the apartment day-night, the animal begins to experience hunger. He will enthusiastically come running to where you sprinkle the seeds. It remains only in time to be in place and catch the hamster.

Since it is extremely inconvenient to wait near the bait, you can use elementary traps. It can be boxes, banks, the sizes and depth of which will not allow the animal to get out again. The principle of trap design is simple; here are a couple of options.

Let's take boxes (cardboard, plastic - which is in the house) with a depth sufficient to prevent your hamster from getting out of it. Dzhungarsky, for example, will need less, Syrian - more, since they themselves are larger.

In the box we put a treat for the hamster, the same seeds. We make sure that the animal can climb into it - we make steps from the improvised material or simply the surface on which the hamster will climb for goodies. We make a path of seeds, which will lead our target to the right place.

It remains to wait for the result: when a hungry fugitive climbs up and falls into a box. He will not be able to get out of there until you take it and return it to the cage.

For careful animals, the trap can be improved by covering the upper, open area with a sheet of paper. Its thickness should be able to withstand a pinch of seeds (bait for a hamster), but fall through under the weight of the animal itself. The result, as in the first version of the trap, is that you are free for daily affairs, the fugitive is caught on its own.

By the same principle, to catch a hamster, you can use a glass bottle and other containers in which your pet will sit in the company with treats until you return it to the cage.

Where to look for a runaway hamster

Since the hamster is active at night, and during the day prefers to hide in a quiet dark place and sleep, create comfortable shelters for him. Inverted boxes, banks, paper tubes - all this will seem to your pet an attractive place to relax. And if you still put refreshments in such a refuge, then the animal will come with redoubled joy. It is possible that in the morning you will find him sleeping in one of the arranged minks, if not earlier.

Be sure to remove everything that is edible for the hamster from the floor of the apartment, because this will only prolong its ability to walk outside the cage.
