Many people have the most vivid childhood memories - how a grandmother treated a cold with rosehip infusion. And the care was pleasant, and the medicine was not nasty, and most importantly - it quickly helped. Rosehip really brings a lot of benefits, and all thanks to the amount of vitamins that a person needs to maintain health.
Rosehip is a thorny shrub that grows up to two meters. Otherwise, it is called the dogrose of May and wild rose. Flowering lasts from May to July, but most important for people is the time when the fruits appear. This period falls on August - October. They have a spherical shape, very small in size, and the colors are most often orange-red. It is believed that the largest set of valuable substances can be found in rose hips during full maturity.
For treatment, you need those fruits that are already ripe, but have not yet become soft. It is necessary to have time to harvest before the first frost. Less commonly, healers use roots and flowers, as well as galls - these are special growths located on the fruits.
Autumn cooking processes
When it is time to collect rose hips, you should know some features:
- Bushes should be located away from hazardous industries and highways;
- fruits should not be damaged and soft;
- peeled fruits should be with the stalk and the remnants of the calyx.
Wild rose bushes are found everywhere - in floodplains of rivers and in meadows, in forests and near residential buildings, on chalky slopes and in gardens. It is willingly bred by amateur gardeners.
Rosehips have many species, more than 30. Most are low-vitamin, for example, dog rose. The rosehip brown is especially distinguished by the healing properties.
Before you dry the rosehip, you need to sort out the fruits, but washing them is not recommended. If you want, you can cut each fruit in half, sometimes they do so so that the long drying process does not destroy the nutrients. At home, without a special appliance, the fruits can be dried using one of the selected options:
- Heat the oven to a temperature of 100 degrees, place the rosehip in it, but only for 5 to 10 minutes, no longer. Then reduce the heat to a temperature of 70 degrees, and dry until tender.
- Preheat the oven to 40 degrees and place in it a baking sheet, on which the fruits are located, in only one layer. So they will be dried for an hour. Then increase the fire to 60 degrees.
It is imperative that before starting the process, the oven must be warmed up to the required temperature, and not send the fruit to cold. From time to time it is necessary to turn the dogrose and leave the door ajar to provide access to fresh air. You can make sure that everything is done correctly by pressing the fetus. If he springs up, does not bend, then all the rules have been followed. If overdrying occurs, the rosehip begins to crumble.
It is advisable to grind the processed fruits in your hands to remove sepals by such actions. Then they should be washed and dried. Before sending the crop for storage, you need to make sure that there are no unfinished fruits, otherwise they will all quickly cover with mold. Therefore, it is advisable to even the humidity at room temperature for several days holding the dogrose in a paper bag or cloth bag, and only then transfer it to a glass or tin container. It is better to cover with a fabric base so that air can circulate freely.
Fruits retain their value for three years.
Structure
Rosehip is very useful, first of all, in the fact that in the pulp of fruits are:
- Vitamin C - up to 20 percent. Among other antioxidants, this vitamin is considered the most powerful. It is able to bind free radicals, not allowing them to destroy the body's tissues. It also increases the activity of antioxidants. Vitamin E is quickly restored from the oxidized form, provided that vitamin C is present nearby. Ascorbic acid is necessary for a person to regulate lipid levels, as well as blood coagulability, form connective and bone tissues, regulate carbohydrate metabolism, and help the immune system. Vitamin C is useful in that it stimulates the production of interferon, which prevents viruses from entering the body from developing.
- Vitamin B2. In order for red blood cells to form, cellular respiration is carried out, riboflavin is necessary. It facilitates the absorption of oxygen into body tissues.
- Vitamin R. Its task is to maintain the elasticity, structure and functioning of blood vessels, blocking the possibility of sclerotic lesions. Rutin maintains a level of normal pressure by dilating blood vessels. Relieves edema, exhibits a pronounced anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory effect. Rutin reduces intraocular pressure.
- Vitamin PP It helps to assimilate the quality of protein from plant foods, and therefore nicotinic acid is especially useful for people who exclude meat and fish from the diet, or those who prefer diets or starvation as a method of losing weight. It takes part in the metabolism of carbohydrates, normalizes gastric secretion and increases gastric motility. If the body lacks this vitamin, dermatoses begin to develop immediately, the gastrointestinal tract is disrupted, and as a result, nausea and vomiting, diarrhea or constipation, pain in the stomach, and an upset appetite appear. Often, memory is reduced and weight is significantly lost.
- Vitamin K. His presence is necessary during the blood coagulation process. Because rosehip quickly heals wounds. If this vitamin is not enough, frequent ruptures of small blood vessels begin. Also, phylloquinone enhances the motility of the intestines and stomach, supports the normal functioning of the heart and liver, is involved, and very actively, in intracellular respiration.
- Carotene. Thanks to him, immunity is enhanced, the body is protected from colds. As an antioxidant, it prevents the negative effects of free radicals. It is important for the reproductive function of the body.
- Pectin substances. Reduce dangerous cholesterol and sugar levels, reduce the chance of getting cancer.
- Linoleic acid. It allows you to reduce weight, supports hormonal and water balances, and prevents skin inflammation and articular inflammation.
- Tannins. A strong antidote that can mitigate mercury and lead poisoning.
- Flavonoids. In combination with a large amount of ascorbic acid, these substances acquire antihyaluronidase activity in wild rose. This means that the permeability of the connective tissue, intercellular spaces and capillary walls is reduced. As a result, puffiness is removed, and infections are difficult to penetrate into the body.
- Fruit acids. Renew and stimulate cells, renewing the skin.
- Tannins. Their greatest merit is hemostatic and anti-inflammatory capabilities.
A large percentage of salts of potassium, iron, as well as manganese, phosphorus and magnesium.
In the seeds found:
- Vitamin E
- carotene;
- fatty oil.
Leaves, roots, galls and bark contain tannins.
Due to the high content of vitamins, especially ascorbic acid, and bioflavonoids, rosehip has established itself as a powerful antioxidant. Helps the plant better absorb iron. If this element is not enough for the body, the hemoglobin level will catastrophically decrease, which will provoke a disease such as anemia.In this case, the immune system cannot protect the body from the invasion of diseases, and vital energy will be reduced.
