Long before the new planting season begins, every gardener is trying to find the best varieties of vegetable crops. If we talk about tomatoes, then raspberry rhapsody is very popular. This is a relatively recent development of seed breeders from Russia that appeared on the seed market in 2013.
The variety gives the first crop already 90 days after the sprouts have sprouted. Raspberry rhapsody can be grown both in greenhouse conditions and in open beds. True, the variety has one, but a rather large drawback - ripe fruits cannot be transported over long distances. However, despite this, Raspberry Rhapsody has many advantages over other tomato varieties, so a large number of gardeners choose it from season to season. The plant pleases with an early harvest, as well as excellent taste of tomatoes.
Grade characteristics
An early ripe tomato variety Raspberry rhapsody gives the first fruits in 90-95 days from the day when the shoots appeared. It is a determinant standard plant, which is not required to pinch. The bush reaches a height of up to 60 cm. It is possible to grow a vegetable crop both in the open ground and under the film.
Breeders describe the fruits of Raspberry Rhapsody as follows:
- If you properly take care of the plantings, the weight of each tomato will be about 300 grams.
- The composition of the fruit includes up to five percent of solids.
- The pulp has a good density and meatiness.
- Each fruit contains about five to six chambers with seeds.
- The color of ripe fruit is raspberry, the shape is round, slightly flattened.
- The surface of the tomatoes is noticeably ribbed, which makes the appearance of the fruit attractive and original.
The cultivation of a vegetable crop of this variety on an industrial scale is practically not carried out, since ripe tomatoes are transported with great difficulties, while losing their commercial characteristics. They are not intended for long-term storage, quickly losing their appearance and deteriorating.
However, for use at home, Raspberry Rhapsody is great. Tomatoes are consumed fresh, they are prepared by them salads, preparations for the winter, canned.
One of the main advantages of the Raspberry Rhapsody variety is that it gives a large amount of yield - up to 15 kg of ripe tomatoes can be collected from each square meter. With these values, even several bushes in the garden can provide a whole family with fresh tomatoes with excellent taste.
Growing recommendations
Reviews from experienced gardeners suggest that if you timely sow the seeds of Raspberry Rhapsody for seedlings, you can collect the first ripe fruits ahead of schedule. This is best done in late March or early April. Until this time, it is not recommended to sow seeds, since seedlings will grow rapidly, and due to the fact that spring frosts have not yet receded, planting in the garden will be impossible. Transfer seedlings to the open ground should not be earlier than in the early days of June, when frost in the morning finally recedes.
Bushes of tomatoes of this variety are undersized, but, despite this, they still need to be tied up. The stem of the plant is not strong enough, for this reason gusty winds can harm plantings.
It should be said that to grow such tomatoes, you need to worry about timely top dressing. Throughout the entire growth of the plant, as well as the formation of fruits, fertilizers must be applied at least five times.
Important! This vegetable crop is notable for its soil composition, and a large number of delicious fruits gives only when it is provided with quality care.
This tomato variety is resistant to common diseases and pests of nightshade crops. But vertex rot can harm the crop. To avoid the occurrence of such problems, it is necessary to reduce the nitrogen content in the soil, increasing the amount of calcium.
You can prevent the development of brown spotting by regularly ventilating the greenhouse, as well as regularly watering the plantings. High humidity can lead not only to the appearance of the disease, but also to the fact that the roots rot and the plant dies.
Tomatoes of this variety need attention and certain conditions. But if you strictly follow the simple recommendations for growing, carry out preventive measures against basic diseases, you can get a large number of tasty and fragrant fruits, which means that the time and effort of the gardener will not be wasted.
