The tomato variety, which is called "Rome", is a real find for lovers of large fleshy tomatoes. They have a sweet taste and have an attractive shape.
Grade description
The variety is indeterminate, medium or late ripening (this depends on the climate of the region in which it is grown). The ripening period (from the appearance of the first seedlings to the harvest) is at least 75 days.
The plant is tall, massive. On average, the bush reaches a height of 160-180 centimeters, in greenhouse conditions - 200 centimeters.
The variety gives a large number of crops. The fruits are large. The weight of each tomato is about 600 g. The shape of the tomatoes is round, slightly flattened. The surface is ribbed, especially around the stalk. Ripe fruits have a bright red color. Tomatoes taste great, they are sweet and fleshy.

How to plant seeds
Varieties of tomatoes included in the Roman series are considered late to mid-season. They are bred in the seedling method. This is done as follows:

- Fertilize seedlings twice. The first time to feed the plant 5-10 days after transplanting into separate containers, the second time - one and a half weeks before planting in the garden.
How to care for a plant
Rome tomatoes are grown in greenhouses or outdoors. The seedlings should be transferred to a permanent place after the last night frosts recede. This usually happens near the end of May. If tomato cultivation is planned in closed heated greenhouses, then seedlings can be planted there from the second decade of April.
For seedlings, you need to prepare beds with holes, seedlings are planted according to a 50x60 cm pattern. Each square meter should have no more than two or three bushes. When growing this vegetable crop, it is recommended to adhere to the following rules:
- Removing stepsons. To get a large amount of harvest, the plant must be stepsoned - remove excess shoots. The formation of the bush is carried out in two to three stems.
- Garter. The plant is considered tall. If properly looked after, it can grow up to two meters in height. As the bushes grow, they must be tied to a support. Fixing of the main stem and brushes with tomatoes is required.
- Watering. Bushes need to be regularly and abundantly watered. For irrigation should use settled warm water.
- Top dressing. This vegetable crop responds well to organic fertilizers. The plant should be fed several times. It is imperative to fertilize it one to two weeks after transferring the seedlings to a permanent place.Next time, the bushes are fed at the time when the fruits are tied and formed.
- Loosening the soil and removing weeds. If you timely loosen the beds and remove weeds, this can prevent the development of diseases.
- Accommodation This type of tomato is late ripe. If you place the plant in shaded areas, the crop will ripen later. Therefore, it is recommended to plant it in closed greenhouses or areas that are well lit.
