Silvarian volvarilla - description, poisonous mushroom

Such a mushroom growing on wood, like silky volvarielle, belongs to the pluteev family. It got its name due to the characteristic cover called Volvo. Also, this representative of the mushroom kingdom is known to many lovers of quiet hunting under the name volvarella bombicini. In fact, this agaric is one of the most beautiful among all species growing on wood. I would like to draw attention to the fact that representatives of this species are rather rare mushrooms that belong to the category of conditionally edible.

Silvari volvarella

Description

The bell-shaped mushroom cap reaches a diameter of 180-200 mm. The lamellar body of the cap is pinkish at the beginning of growth, acquires a brownish color during development. The volvarilla leg is quite long, at the base has some thickening. The spores of the ellipsoidal mushroom are pink in color.

Due to its peculiar appearance, which implies a unique color, as well as a characteristic fibrous structure of the surface of the fruit body of the cap, it is quite difficult for volvariel to be confused with other types of mushrooms. According to many experienced mushroom pickers, this type of mushroom is quite suitable for food after boiling of sufficient duration (the decoction in which the mushrooms were cooked is necessarily merged).

Spread

As mentioned above, volvarella bombicin is a rather rare type of mushroom, so mushroom pickers do not collect it very often. The main place of growth of this species is the mixed-type forests, as well as fairly large-sized natural parks and protected areas. For its growth, volvarilla often chooses the wood of weakened deciduous trees, for example: willows, poplars, maples. The most active fruiting time of this species of representatives of the mushroom kingdom is considered the summer season - from mid-July to the last days of August.

I would like to draw attention to the fact that silky volvarilla in many countries is included in the lists of endangered and very rare species of mushrooms, for this reason it is under protection in order to avoid complete destruction. Actually, only professional mushroom pickers with extensive experience know about the existence of this species, which is due to the fact that volvarilla is a very rare mushroom. In addition, representatives of this species never grow in groups, they are found only singly.

Some varieties of volvarilla can be grown artificially, which allows the person involved in the cultivation of this species to collect a fairly solid crop of these tasty and rare mushrooms.

Development features

The beginning of the development of this type of mushroom begins with the growth stage of the "egg". In fact, in this form it is born in a common blanket. If the mushroom is divided into two parts, then inside you can see a kind of mushroom embryo. After the maturation of the egg, a mushroom appears from it. Note that at the beginning of growth, the cap of the fruit body of the volvarilla has a bell-shaped shape, after some time it straightens, however, the specimen leg still remains wrapped in the remains of the cover.

The old mushroom, in contrast to the young specimens, has a less attractive appearance, the surface of the hat becomes wrinkled, and the color of the mushroom attractive to the eyes also disappears.

Similarity with other species

Due to its unique coloring of the fruiting body, such a type of mushroom as volvarilla practically does not look like not one other representative of the mushroom kingdom. Another characteristic feature of this species is the fibrous structure of the fruiting body and a peculiar appearance.

Can I eat?

Is it possible to eat silky volvarilla?
Volvarilla - although it belongs to conditionally edible species, however, most mushroom pickers who have met and collected this species consider it to be completely edible. The main condition for the preparation of this peculiar agaric is a mandatory initial heat treatment, which implies the boiling of fruiting bodies. The broth obtained after cooking the mushrooms is drained.

Growing

As indicated above, bombicin is an edible mushroom, however, its taste cannot be called exceptional, especially in comparison with most so-called "delicious" mushrooms. Nevertheless, there are many people involved in the artificial cultivation of mushrooms of this family, which helps them to get a good harvest every season. The most popular fungus among all species of this family is the volvolvolella cultivated by growing on straw and wood waste.

Related species

Mucous-headed volvarilla is a fungus that belongs to the category of conditionally edible. The fruit body of the cap at the beginning of the development of a characteristic egg-shaped form, with growth, straightens and becomes convex-spread. At the same time, the hat in the central part is decorated with a rather wide eminence (a kind of tubercle). The color of the representatives of this species is dirty white, or brown. The peculiarity of the fungus is that in the rainy season the surface of the cap becomes mucous. The pulp of the mushroom is quite loose, the taste characteristics and aroma are practically not expressed. The leg of the mushroom is long and thin, gray-yellow color.

Most often, this type of volvarielle grows not only on wood, but also on the surface of the soil. In the forest, this type of mushroom is almost impossible to find. Often, representatives of this type of volvarielle can be found in a forest belt near the fields, on compost heaps, personal plots, gardens. The fruiting season is from mid-summer to autumn. The mushroom grows singly or in small groups.
